Cargo Doors

Postby swayne01 » Tue Sep 06, 2005 1:53 pm

I have a few aircraft now that use the Shift+E+2 key to open a secondary door. E.g. Cargo holds and such like. I find that sometimes it insists on opening the primary door (Shift+E+1) and i cannot open if for me life.

Is there a module out there that allows me to open the secondary door without hitting the keys? Is it possible to reassign this command without having the source file? is there any way to install a gauge to do this easily (a.k.a without opening the Panel.cfg?

Thanks in advance,

It may not be the same thing happening to you, but I recently faced a similar problem, which, after much gnashing of teeth and rendering of clothes (not a pretty sight to behold), was traced to a PEBKAC situation.

Basically, I was hitting Shift-E+2, but I was keeping the shift key held down.  this was resulting in just the main exit opening and closing ...   Once I figured out that I was to hit Shift-E+(release Shift) +2, the secondary exit happily opened and closed, like a puppy jumping for a treat.

there are a few aircraft whch dont have cargo doors, or the author orgot to tie a command to them, so it will open the default main door. i havent found a solution yet, but if i do, you will be among the first to know.

An XML gauge can be written to address the Shift+E+2 which should not affect the primary door. That is assuming the model builder actually separated the commands. Some don

The thing that really gets me is when I affect the throttle controls, especially if there are four jets/engines.

For the life of me I can just never hit E then 1234 fast enough to get all in sync again. Before I know it I'm smashing my fist into the # keys.  :(

Then I'll remember it is a whole lot easier just to reboot the plane and keep going  ::)

In fact an XML gauge that addresses this problem HAS been written  :)

Look for file rcbse-10.zip on avsim.com or flightsim.com.
This also contains a description on WHY this problem occurs....
