Found another one on there:
...

Looks like I didn't realize the scope of the problem. I guess I should have kept mouth (or more correctly keyboard) shut. I take most of my defence of the seller back but I remind you I was only defending one seller.  It is just that it reminded me so of my own experiance one time on eBay.

I happened to obtain to a copy of Windows XP network administrator service pack 2 a couple weeks before it was released to the public.  I put it on a CD and made several copies for friends. When it was finally released at the Microsoft web site it was almost impossible to download because of the volume of people trying to do so. So as a service to the folks who couldn't download it I made a CD available on eBay for free, charging $5 for shipping and handling.

Well to make a long story as short as possible I sold three copies. I received three wonderfull letters of thanks from the three people who got the CD's and five or six hate letters from people who accused me of steeling Microsoft property. I guess they were right but I made three people very happy and enough money to buy a Big Mack at McDonald'S.

Buy the way. If you want to catch all the thugs. Just set up a "favorites search" on eBay and they will send you an e-mail whenever sombody offers the offending product.

Whether you want to admit it or not, you were pirating MS property then and 'this guy' is pirating other peoples work now.  Face it.  The guy is a low life.    ::)

Well, since you only gained enough money just for big mac, I don't think so.

However, this guy is gaining money very fast to the point where he can buy a:

1. Home Theater with surround sound
2. XBOX 360
3. Very expensive coat or shoes
4. A brand spanking Rolex

You get the point?

No one said you were a low-life.... but you broke the law no matter how much of a service you considered it.

It is illegal to copy and distribute any MS product, even for free, without the expressed written consent of MS Corporation through thier legal (licensing) department

and that

What Nick said...

It's not a question of intent.  All week long in New Orleans, people have been stealing food from stores to feed themselves and their family.  No matter what the circumstances, it is technically still stealing.  Let's say my neighbor needs a new pickup truck.  If I go out and steal one from the Ford dealer down the street and give it to him, does that make it ok?  Of course not.

Katahu,

Sorry to hear that the the Ferrari has now been ripped off!  :o

The speed and target of of that ripoff I'd say makes that fact sort of smell a tiny bit "vindictive" to "Simv" maybe.   :P  We already commented in this thread that the person or persons involved might actually (unfortunatley) be a SimV person.

One GREAT thing is that EBay has a special relationship with an actual copyright holder as opposed to just a potential buyer.  You'll find a special section for the owners of copyrights to contact them.  I think you will be able to press charges.

Good luck... and the calvery will carge into the fray behind you again  ;).

best,

There were many reasons why I chose car modeling over aircraft modeling. One of them was:

The fact that many people prefer flying rather than driving in a FLYING sim. Therefore, the chances of it being ripped off would be greatly reduced. However, this is no longer the case now that this thief has taken advantage of it.

it wouldn't surprise me if in the months following this we will find out that more and more of these are being offered on Ebay.

I've been a member of Ebay for awhile now but only bought 3 things of there and there still in the packaging (Aliens versus Predator Figurines 12" tall).

And you don't need a Credit/Debit Card to sign up with, i signed up with my ISP email address and never had to give any more information over.

How did you manage that?

Everytime I go register, it always asks me to punch in my credit info. Or maybe I was missing something.

I think that EBay does not "like" the sort of "anonymous" hotmail addresses.  I think in that case if you try to use one it then asks you for something else that is a far more definitive ID.

For what should be rather obvious reasons by now!  ;)

As an EBay seller... I KNOW that they know the real identity of you if you sell there.  They require info that identifies you and also that confirms your snail mail address.

I Know that Ebay will have a record of my identity/address which i don't mind as i know its a legitimate company, I know that the seller knows the information about the bidder as its required to be there so the seller knows where to send it (if it can be posted).

As far as i know the E-mail addy's that you can't sign up with are hotmail.com/.co.uk , Yahoo ,Lycos ,Excite and other e-mail addy's around.
