Water Textures

Postby linacus » Sun Aug 28, 2005 10:12 am

Hi,
I have been trying to add water textures ever since I got FS9. Around a year ago. But everytime i get some that look good on the shots, they never show up. I follow the instalation but it never works. Anything I should maybe do??

Just to help troubleshoot here, did you install all your files into your FS9/textures folder?  If so, is your video card direct x 9 compliant?  Some water textures for some reason won't work with some video cards.  Have you tried using different kinds of water textures?

I used to have a really old card, but probably the one that did work and still looked great was fs9wat.zip, see if that works for you.

Hope some of this helps  ;)
Cheers,
RB

Put the slider for water in the settings menu of FS to maximum.

For FS 2000/2002/2004

Try "Flight Water Pro"....
Set Terrain detail: Land and Water: to "Max".
Set Water effects to "None".

You will get...
...nice blue moving water... ;)...!

Cheers...!

Just downloaded it from AvSim. Tried it, I like it. Doesn't eat my framerate as much as the other add-on watertextures. Thanks Fozzer.

Ta, Crash...!

It's always been a good favourite since the early days of FS 2000/2002... ;D...!

I've always hated the 'orrible "green" water effects on FS 2004... :'(....LOL...!

Flight Water Pro: Excellent water effects add-on for low-end users...(and high-end users.. ;)...)... ;D...!

Doesn't affect the frame-rates... ;D...!

The great thing about the water FX setup I mentioned above is you can decide how much effect you see, the waves, the direction of the waves,  the depth of the water and also the entire visual is directly affected by the amount of cloud cover, etc..

I think images are restricted to the screenshot forum and I do not have a server to upload an image to from where I am at right now. Sorry

I see how the upload system works here now... below are some screens I snagged of the water textures/FX I use from the post mentioned above. I did not alter them in any way.

I do not use the HIGH water FX settings, I set LAND & WATER to high and leave the water FX on medium.

Nice screenshots Nick, would just like to let you know that the third one is over the 100kb limit.
