Default 747-400 question

Postby wilderobb » Sun Sep 04, 2005 6:48 pm

Is it me or what? I can't seem to find the Avionics switches on the Default 747-400. Do I need to put them in myself? I cant start the plane up without them I think. I know about Shift + E but prefer not to use that feature if I can. Thanks Guys, Wildie. :o

You can't start the default 747 form cold and dark. You can make so that at at the start of the flight its engines are off, but (differently from the panel of the 737) there is no avionic switch to make it dark, that I know of.

To start the engines from zero you click on the knobs on the overhead (whatever there is of it) to begin the spool up of the engines (one at time, ideally) and when n2 reaches about 20% put the fuel cut lever of the engine being spooled up on the throttle quadrant on "close" and the engine will start up.

This is about it. It's a default plane after all. :P

You can add an avionics master switch.. it's pretty easy to do (you need to do it in the Lear too).

I used the Caravan's avionics switch, you can use any..

Just add a line to the panel.cgf file.. This does nicely in the Lear.. puts it in the upper left corner..

gauge34=Cessna208!Avionics-Switch, 22, 99

I'll experiment with the 747 and edit this later..

EDIT:  This works well for the 747...

gauge58=737-400!Avionics Master Switch, 329, 98

It puts it just to the left of the backup attitude indicator.. it's just the little, rectangular button.. no label, but you'll see that it works.. No radios, GPS or function to the HSI unless it's turned on..

You could also just use the avionics master switch short cut key ;) (I have mine set to " ' ", yours will probably be different)

...to add a final touch you can label it if you like by editing the panel bitmaps in Photoshop or whatever you use.........commoner. ;)
