Scenery is awful

Postby Viking66 » Tue Aug 16, 2005 8:41 am

I have a Dell 8400 3.5MHz, Pent. 4 w/ 2/GB RAM and a ATI 800X graphics card.

I am unable to adjust either my graphics card or FS9 settings so that VFR looks like scenery rather than a blur of milky white and green sploches. I have FS Global 2005 installed as well as other scenery (mesh,Landclass and addon airports. The add-on airport areas look normal, scenery beyond these areas blurred.

Is there a guide to follow when setting up FS9 ?

Some sceneries have to be viewed at a certain altitude to look good. Try contacting the maker of the scenery for help...

Hi Viking, welcome to SimV. Silly thought but have you tried going into Settings, then adjusting the display options in FS? You can up the level of detail etc.....

go to settings> display> hardware tab

try moving the MIP mapping slider around, maybe that'll make it look sharper ;)

Hello, I too have poor scenery. I loaded VFR North and then had to get a patch to get anything working, but having complained yet again ie flying into the VFR scenery area, I am told you must fly at 3000 ft or everything will be blurred. Partially correct this but who wants to fly at the same height all the time.  I have just loaded Liverpool Airport as an add- on- its terrible, jumping all over the place !  Seriously thinking of getting rid of these scenery extras altogether and stick with what Bill sold me !

I have just loaded Simshed Hercules and downloaded Liverpool Airport.  Hercules is fanastic except I have no ATC or AutoPilot.  Liverpool  has scenery jumping around like a young kangaroo- so its all down to my scenery not loading fast enough I suppose. I have 512 MB RAM and  just installed GeForce Fx 5500 oc  with AGP 256 MB DDR  so a bit cheesed off that its not working too well for me. I have actually put the MIP up a notch from default.  Would welcome any suggestions as to what I can do next.

Cheers

Hello GWP,

I don't know what you have downloaded there but it ain't anything like 8 GBs  !!.  Liverpool airport is about 20 mbs if I remember correctly if that much.  It is actually very good to look at as long as I don't move my aircraft down the apron, and that is what is so annoying.
Best of luck
