FMS Questions

Hi guys, now this im sure will tickle you all. First i must say that i usually don`t fly using fms, but just VFR. However the time has come to use this systeml i purchased just flights dash 8 pro, and am pleased with the package. The problem is although there is a tutorial flight included, explanations of how to and why you do specific tasks are taken for granted. So, firstly how does one, specify a specific course for an airway? Secondly is there a set rule for approaches pertaining to the use of nbd`s and vors?

I know, i know its going to get some stick, but please be gentle.
