I Strongly suggest you to disable the Xp firewall to install and use this:

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/c ... wnload.jsp

It's one of the best freeware, too.

You may still get problems-if your computer was setup by an IT guy, chances are winxp firewall is already disabled.  You may still have problems getting to files on other sites, but SimV should be fine (for example, I have norton/symantec and I can't get videos off of FS2004.com).

To disable XP firewall, go to control panel, security settings, windows firewall.

It's called "security center"... it should be a shield icon.  If you can't get it to come up, try hitting "use classic view" in the upper left hand corner.

If that doesn't work, try hitting tools, folder options, check 'show hidden files and folders'... the security center shouldn't be hidden, but who knows.

Good luck ;) (lol all I do all day is IT, even on SimV ;D)

ps-you're sure you have XP, right?

You can also go Start/Control Panel/Network Connections and right click on the connection.  Bring up Properties/Advanced/Windows Firewall/Settings...

errm before you turn your XP firewall off MAKE SURE you have another one running!  :o  Do you have any security clients installed on your computer?  If not, get that firewall back on now.

salterb52,

There is a setting in your own browser that yopu havde to check to have a dialog box pop up to let you know that is happening and/or assign a destination location.

Can't remember where / what it is... but if you look ... you'll find it.

best,
