Virtual cockpit oddities

Postby DJ_Zephyr » Mon Aug 01, 2005 9:10 am

OK, I've been getting into a lot of planes lately with really nice virtual cockpits.  This is good, but there is a problem.

Many of those VCs have an odd tendency to kinda lag my comp.  I say "kinda", cuz it happens in "spurts," where the graphcis will stall for a split second every few seconds.  It doesn't really affect gameplay, but it's annoying as hell, and the only way to fix it is to turn down VC detail in the Settings menu.  But doing THAT makes the gauges really blurry, especially on my new deHav Otter.

Anything I can do to fix this odd twitch?  My machine specs are in my sig.

I think I know what you mean Zephyr-I've had a problem where, when I'm in the VC, the plan kind of lurches forward, sort of stuttering. It was in the AN-24 and Falcon 50, and I've stopped flying both because of the problem ::)

Try The Concorde or A340 this are realy heavys for the machines ,i fly only in vc,and i don't have a super video card,so i don't have nothing to complain about my 64 agp 2x Nvidia
and most models runs ok  8) with it...even with ultra high quality setting on

Hi
The problem you are seeing CAN be caused by the gauge resolution and it effects some systems .Open the panel.cfg and have a look at the [vcockpit#] sections, look at the pixel_size= entry if it is 1024,1024 change it to 512,512 the gauges will look pixelated and a little less clear but still readable. Also if you have added this line VIRTUAL_COCKPIT_TEXTURES_SCALE=2.0
too the [PANELS] section of the fs9.cfg it will double the resolution of the pixel_size= entry on all aircraft.

So if all aircraft are showing these symtoms then check the fs9.cfg for VIRTUAL_COCKPIT_TEXTURES_SCALE=2.0 and remove the line,or if its only one or two addon aircraft do the panel.cfg mod

cheers

Thx, Mauv, I'll try that with my Otter and a few of the others!

Zephy, try this... i've experienced the problem too... It gets kinda laggy... now if that happens, hit the alt-key... the menubar pops up... then hit it again... this restores my fps... dunno why but it does.

Switching from views seem to affect this lag...

Perhaps this helps...
