Simple reinstall Question

Postby wilderobb » Mon Aug 01, 2005 11:09 am

I was wondering what the differance is between the Express and the Compact install? Also should my XP firewall be enabled? Many thanks, Wildie. ???

...er....don't you have the handbook Wildie?.....page three explains it.........Express will install the lot and if you are short on disk space then compact will help you along a different route to help with that problem......commoner ;)

...as for the Firewall?...well it is always better to close open programs when installing.......or so it says. :)

Yes, I have the handbook but it just says what you said about disk space. I see no point in puting on more than I want. Such as Flight lessons and their vidios ect. Is that whats left out with the Compact install I wonder.  ::)

Not sure about FS9 but with earlier versions some of the larger files like scenery were not installed to your HD. This meant they had to be read from the CD with the correct CD in the drive. This was mainly to save HD space when drives weren't as big as they are today. I always thought it best to do the Full Install with everything on the HD whether you intend using it or not. This is obviously important if you wish to use the No-CD patch which from my own experience can fix all sorts of problems with CFS3 & FS9.
