Changing reverse throtte assignment?

Postby VOHY_VO0I » Sat Jul 30, 2005 3:36 am

Okay, i searched the assignments in MFS 2004 for reverse throttle/thrust as i wanted it to be assigned to my yoke (Y axis, to be precise). After searching for hours i still could not find it. I don't think i missed it out..........but then, if it is not mentioned in the assignments then how did i know that the default key is 'holding down the F2 key'?

I'm confused, surprised and shocked  :o

Can someone help me with this please  ::).
I would like reverse throttle assignment on my yoke too.

Eagerly waiting.........

You don't say what yoke/stick your using??

Not sure about your yoke, but I use the x52 & have the 1st 20% of my throttle set to do the reverse thrust.

Assuming that your yoke has it's own profile editor, then maybe it is possible to set up 'bands' within your throttle - this is how the x52 does it - mine is set up so that when I pass into the 0 - 20% band then it activates F2 for me.

This could of course be of no help to you at all, but I was hoping that maybe the basic principle is the same with your set up.

Cheers,

TSC.

Well, i have the CH Products Flight Sim Yoke and this is unlike the 'stick' (X52) which you are talking of. As far is i know, my yoke does not have any profile editor nor bands.

Ok, lets say that i want to change the default assignment (of reverse throttle) say from 'holding down the F2 key' to something like 'holding down the F1 key'.............then how is this possible??

I'm sure that every assignment can be changed, inculding reverse thrust, but how?

Any help on this would gladly be appreciated.

You should be able to go into the assignments menu and select reverse thrust and change it to whatever key or joystick function you want.  I am not at a computer with sim on it so I can't check it.   I always change my engine controls to the variouse buttons on my stick.

There is NO Reverse Thrust Assignment

Two aircraft.cfg items must be set up to allow reverse thrust.  The first is in the Turbine Engine Data section with the entry reverser_available=1 .  The second entry is in GeneralEngineData with the entry min_throttle_limit = -0.25 .

The F2 key used to decrease the throttles allows the engines to go into a negative value if that value is defined in min_throttle_limit.

If you have the capability to configure your throttles on your joystick/controller and can set a value of 0 forward of the true 0 position, then you can use the joystick to activate reverse thrust.

Thanks bdenni, atleast now i know for sure that there is no reverse thrust assignment.

What a big flaw in MFS 2004  >:(

So i guess there is no way of assigning the reverse thrust key to any other key than F2 (or the decreasing throttle key which ever it may be).

If someone can find a way to rectify this flaw, i would be most grateful to him.  :D

You say the reverse thrust is assigned to the F2 key. Well, the F2 default key command is named on the Assignments menu. You could try assigning that to a yoke button & see what happens.

I don't use reverse thrust myself so I don't know if this is any help.

Yes F2 might say throttle decress quickly...and once you get to 0 throttle, it goes negative.

The quick and easy was of hitting reverse...either assign it to a button / wheel. or simple hit F1 than F2 until you get the desired amount of back thrust.
