AI Traffic like in UltimateTraffic, but free?

Postby hatter » Fri Jul 29, 2005 11:06 pm

Ok, no, I can't tell you where to get it, but I can tell you I want it. (So you're probably thinking  ::) but bear with me).

So, is this possible? I don't really care about real routes, I just want traffic density to increase and I want real liveries for AI aircraft.

Is it possible with freeware add-ons? I know stuff like UltimateTraffic adds a whole helluva lot, but if I can get the effect for free, Im not gonna go spend $30.

I guess that's my question.

Do a web search for "Project AI".

That's all you need.   ;)

Sonic,

I use USA Traffic as well.

Pro: uses ais-ai  commercial aircraft which have animated ground support equipment at the gate, including pushback tug.

Con?: Because it in part copies the default flight plans, you have some duplicate flights (same reg.numbers, flight numbers, departure times and 'formation' flying), if you have both active.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks all. Looks very nice. Tight like a tiger!

Awesome! Formation flying!   ;D

EDIT: That's it? A 6 MB download and you have everything? Or do you need to download those airline packs?

Some of us have the best of both worlds: UT and PAI :-)
P.S. UT is the best $29 bucks you'll ever spend.

Another question: Does ProjectAI address traffic density? I mean, when I take off at O'hare midday, there's maybe 1 other plane on the taxiway?

hatter,

Is your AI slider set to 100%?  That affects how much traffic you see.

With PAI and just SOME of the packages installed....... I have line ups on the hold short of 7 to 10 planes after about 10 minutes at such places.

Currently at RJAA it is one plane off per minute.  ;)  Bout same on arrivals.

best,

Bear with me fellas, my computer is awaiting repair parts, so right now, I'm on my non-FS system, asking about FS.

Well, I downloaded the packs.

So, how does one go about installing all these different packages? I mean, do they work for all the routes? What If you have a 3rd party airport? Do the planes not know where to go, i.e., taxi on grass?

The installations are pretty straight forward. All they really do is change and/or add to a huge AI data file. It's really just a bunch of routes that reasonably replicate a good portion of the scheduled flights said airlines fly.

I can't imagine the research and work that went into it all. It's still probably the best, free add-on out there.

It incorporates a third-party program (Traffic Tools) to edit the AI file.

If you really want to learn about it.. Download and experiment with Traffic Tools first. You'll see (learn) how to

Ahhh, yeah, I think I'll go check out AFCAD.

So with PAI, will the default models/textures and AI flightpaths be deleted, or will there be 'Global Freightways' planes flying alongside the new real planes?

I have PAI. And from the looks of it, it keeps the default flights intact. I still Global Freightways and other defaults, but I also see Delta, American, British, and a load of others flying around. The new flights are just added in.

Katahu314:

Cool. I might delete the default AI pathways. Maybe not.

Still, I find it strange that PAI didn't do an ATA pack w/ callsign AmTran. They have ATA Connection (Windy City, I think?), but no ATA.
