Do you keep going and going or start new flight?

I was just curious how many just fly a flight and that be it or how many keep using the same plane and just go from place to place never 'starting' the game over?

I have been flying the same 747 for quite some time and have been landing, parking, and then saving the game and then go back later and file a new flight plan and leave from where I'm at. I haven't actually started a new flight from scratch in probably a month  :)

I've been flying the POSKY 752 for months now, and normally what I'd do (before I got a job ) is, using RL schedules, plan two flights and fly it straight through-e.g. KJFK-KATL, sit at ATL for an hour, then KATL-KDEN. The next day, I'd do something like KDEN-KCVG, then KCVG-KFLL, etc., etc.

I don't just skip around randomly though, I do hops-I start at my home base, JFK, and will fly roughly six legs that eventually leads me back to JFK, where I start all over again.

I've also always started from where I left off, unless my home base is changed (like when it was changed from Philly to JFK a while back).

Edit:  I guess, technically, you could say that I start a new flight every time that I'm flying back out of JFK, but that's what real pilots do as well (they need to rest too ya know)

Usually I hop around, but I've got a couple long-range runs going.  Gonna take a B-29 around the world starting with a Hong Kong > Hawaii run.  And I'm traveling Europe in a P-38L to see how much she can take!

But usually, I hop around, starting short runs then exiting out.  It's really weird, they say, when the locals keep reporting some P-38 that just appears out of thin air, flys around for a spell, lands, then dissapears!

Yeah, when I fly for my VA I just fly straight through, no stopping. And usually I'll fly something similar to beefhole where I'll fly a trip of 3-6 legs and then end up at my homebase (CYYZ). The only problem though with flying in Canada is that there are only a number of airports that service the U.S. and Europe so sometimes the flying can get...not boring but a little, well...meh . But I'm always looking for new airports and if things get too repetitive I can always fly into KLGA or KDCA and get some exciting approachs.

One of the greatest things about the simulator is that you can approach it differently at different times.  ;)

SOmetimes I go on a "binge" of "realism".  As you and beefhole mention, I fly a route as if I was a real ATP pilot.  Fly from point A to B.... park it for a while... then from B to C... then maybe overnight.. then from C to A.

Other times I spend a lot of time flying my "assigned" local route.  From A to B and then back..... overnight... then A to B again the next time.  And so on.  That helps gets you pretty proficient in SIDS and STARS.....at least for one airport  ;).

And then sometimes I just explore the world randomly.    Or load up "Dogherty's Difficult and Dangerous Approches" and challenge myself.

It's a wide world out there..........

I guess I sorta cheat too as when I land, park, and save the game I may load the game back up three days later and change the date and time to my current time so in the sim world the plane sat there for 3 days.

But when I load a new flight plan I do not hit ok when it asks me if I want to move the plane to the new location. I like starting right where I left her in the parking pad.

One thing I like about continuing with the same a/c is everything is right where I left it. The size and location of the clock, nav, etc is right where I had it. I'm sure I will get bored with Air Force One eventually.

Mostly I like to stay with one plane and fly continuously.  I'm doing two projects right now; 1 using FSPassengers, and flying/saving every time, and the other being a "world tour" (as opposed to just going around the globe in a direct line).  The world tour is a lot of fun, and I've been at it for several months now.

new flights every time. I like a lot of aircraft, so i usually switch around a lot. sometimes if i got bored, i'll switch mid-air to make things more interesting.

I cant stick with one airraft, i personally find it boring after a while, i need constant change.

The around the world airport hop sounds fun so I might try that. I've been around the world but it was mostly nonstop, so didn't see much scenery.

I don't like props so i wonder what private craft i should use to do it in. Hmm, maybe a Lear jet.

Hey TwoLow, how do you 'save' the game?

I usually creat a VFR flight plan with lots of stops and about 30-45 minute legs. Then I save at each stop and sometimes switch airplanes. I like flying lots of different planes, who cares if it's not realisting to switch off at every stop. In this way I've worked my way from KSTJ in N.E. Missouri (my local airport) to flagstaff AZ, up the rockies, into Canada, west for a bit, and now I'm heading down the west coast towards Mexico... Or at least I was untill my computer imploded, but luckily that flight plan was backed up on a zip-disk along with all of my add-ons and other important things.

Hey TwoLow, how do you 'save' the game?

After I land, park, and turn everything off on the plane I hit ALT, then FILE, then SAVE FLIGHT and call it something like 'parked at LAX' or something to that effect.

When I want to continue where I left off I load up FS and select 'parked at LAX' and I'm back where I was with plane turned off and everything. I then punch in a new flight plan from where I'm at to someplace new, turn everything back on, and head out to the runway.

I haven't selected 'start a new flight' in over a month.

It varies for me; and lately not much time to fly when I'm not exhausted or have to either go to bed or go to work (all I seem to do anymore).
Sometimes I'll just shoot the pattern at a familiar field, or do maneuvers in a light single, to get my yah-yahs until I resume my RL flying... occasionally I'll review a past x-c flight or check out one I'd like to fly in the near future. For these,  if it's a long trip, I'll save and resume rather than ramp up the sim rate.
I've made a couple of ATP-type flights with fairly realistic planning, filing IFR, etc... I save and resume those, too, but also speed up the sim rate, i.e. when I'm doing a 4-hr overwater leg at night at 30,000 feet. I've done long trips in the 747 and VC10, but for some reason I'm happier droning along in a large prop transport like the Stratocruiser or DC3.
Even recently checked out FS9's default short trips for the Ford Tri-Motor... surprisingly fun!!

Then there's the mad 5-minute hops in some newly-acquired thing that I have no idea how to fly...
