Crash to desktop, again!

Postby KD_VB_FS » Mon Jul 25, 2005 8:32 pm

I know this has been posted many times here before, but i've read the older posts and still can't find a solution, I really appreciate it if you could help me out with any solutions, ideas, or even comments!  ;)

Every time I try to make a flight (no matter where and when) FS crashes to desktop after approx. 5-10 mins. without any error messages or any kind of warnings or explanations!!! All I know is that before the crash,  nothing unusual happens (no disk activity, no ATC messages, no changes in flight controls or aircraft instruments!)  ???

The real problem is, I can't remember what caused this, as the sim was working fine few months ago, but after hours of meditation and memory-mining I found 2 possible causes: I updated the sim to version 9.1 & I added 2 memory sticks each 256MB..
Anyway, I tried re-installing windows and FS, reset my BIOS settings, disabled my sound card, and tried removing any addons from the sim. I also tried many nVidia drivers and read more than 1000 posts in 50 different forums, all to no avail..! I just don't know what else to do, i'm desperate to find a solution.

Check the system specs. in my signature.

Thanks in advance.

If you've added RAM recently, it's very possible one of them is defective.  Try running a mem test using http://www.memtest86.com/

Thanks for the replies guys..

Well, I tested the new RAM sticks with M$ Memory Check utility (or something like that), and ran the normal POST tests, and they were all passed.. Also, other games are running without problems at all..

As for the temperatures, the CPU temp right after the crash is 64 C, and the mobo about 45 C, I don't know how to get the video card temp though! I think it doesn't have a sensor..
But anyway, i suspect it could be caused by overheat, but it wouldn't just crash to desktop, I know that the system actually hangs when overheated, so could it really be the problem?

I disabled automatic updates in system properties.. But u never know when these little buggy things called 'services' start messing up the system, it's a constant M$ strategy to keep their customers 'satisfied'!  ;D
