Water Textures

Postby MidEx812 » Mon Jul 18, 2005 11:22 pm

I have tried multiple times to put the new water textures, from various downloads, into my Flight Sim, and it has not worked yet.  I tried to follow the readme, but it just hasn't worked.  any ideas?

Much thanks.

You must have your 'Water Effects' sliders up to full in the FS9 Settings screen.

Most addon water effects will not show unless the water effects are set to full.

Also its worth noting that some graphics cards can't run with the Water Effects set to full - you will know this is the case with your own card if you are unable to move the slider fully to the right in FS9.

Ah, ok.  I always took the happy medium by pushing land effects to full, and water effects to medium.  I will check that and get back to you.

Well, I just tested it, and I found that the graphics card isn't high enough.  But I thought I had a really high quality card in there.  Hmm...

The Land effects slider will automatically go to half-way if you set the Water effects to full as this makes up for the remaing water effects half of the land effects.

You cant have both sliders to full in the settings menu.
Ive got mine on half-slider for land effects and full-slider for water effects...

yeah, but my water effects slider will not stay at full, even with the land effects at half.  according to edzmen, this means I don't have a good enough graphics card

What Direct X do you have installed ?
You have to have Direct X 9.0 or higher for the water texture and reflections to work.
fs9wat.zip= These textures will only work on DX9 compliant video cards.  You must be able to move the "Water Effects" slider all the way to the right.
The video card and DX9 work together.

Trust me IVANOW even with direct 9c these very common types of video card wont reproduce some textures includes that one, that makes the water reflect,he will see the same dark green image as water's default, and BTW he can't set the display/water in high resolution either

I have found that when an istance just as that comes up, a 12 gauge with some buckshot or the good ol' .45 handles things nicely...
