Let me start with a little background-I'm in the middle of doing routine hops for my VA, Delta virtual, flying the 752. This week, I have a three-day trip scheduled:
KJFK-KDEN-KCVG-KDFW-KATL-KSLC-KJFK
I write this as I fly DFW-ATL.
The story starts with me grounded in Denver, due to heavy t-storms directly over the airport. After a 35 minute delay, Delta 626 with non-stop service to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Intl is wheels up at 2129.
I climb to my cruising altitude of 35,000 and settle in, trying to stay awake (it was around 0 dark in RL). Roughly an hour and a half into cruise, somewhere over Missouri, it happens.
Although I may be looking away from the screen, I have good peripheral vision and when something changes out of my focus, I still catch it. At the same time as I look up to check my fuel flow, a silver (gray, possibly white) streak crosses the plane, on a heading of about, at best guess, 150.
Holy **** my heart almost exploded. Immediately, I hit ctrl+shift+L, which will tag any plane within 10 miles, and look out my right window. Nothing. I look back to my left, in case I misjudged the direction. Nothing.
I wake my FO, Invisible Man.
"Hey! Invisible! Did you just see that?"
"See what?"
"The thing that just crossed the plane!"
"No. Leave me alone now, don't you have work to do?"
He was right. Invisible was a nice guy and all, but he never really did any work. It always seemed like I was doing everything for all stages of flight. Anyways...
Anyone else had any experiences like this? It might've been an FS shooting star, but I've never seen one. I mean, my heart literally leapt out of my chest, it scared the crap out of me. It was on and off the screen in about half a second.

However, since FS2002, there has been a shooting star fx in the game's files...maybe you had a near miss with an asteroid
