Darn Textures!

Postby Foxtrot Sport » Mon Jul 18, 2005 8:27 pm

Okay, this problem has been ongoing since I took my screenshots for the contest, (which took place a couple nights ago).

When up to a cruising altitude, (GA that is), The ground textures appear painstakingly grainy!  This problem also has seemed to translate into the water as well, terribly grainy.  However, when looking directly under the plane, it's not as bad, actually, it's quite clear.  However, anything over 4 miles out, horrid.  And depending on the banking of the craft, the ground textures can appear to be moving about like waterzone (well, not exactly).

I tried turning the AA lower, no effect.  I tried lowering the Terrain quality, little to no effect.  I tried re-starting the computer, no effect.  So, after leaving clumps of hair pulled out, I end up here, in search of an answer.   Help please!

I had that problem. It fixed mine by uninstalling FS. When you uninstall uncheck setting and stuff, then i had trouples installing full so i had to install it as compact. Hope this helps.

If it doesn't install back on just an warning NOT MY FAULT

Make certain ALT+V+O Spotplane is set to Value=1 (your post does not state which FS9 view)

Pardon?  If you're asking what view this happens in, it's certainly all of them :(

In desperate hope of trying to fix the problem, I reinstalled the Sim about 15 minutes ago, just to have no effect.  So I come back onto here, and read that switching extend terrain would help.  Well, originaly it was set to *off*, so I switched it to *on* and it didn't help a bit!  Please, Has anybody else had this?

EDIT:  I've been fiddling for a while now, and still no help... I've just resorted to reading!

FS display settings>hardware tab-check the MIPS level.
Should be no more than 4 or 5.

Thank you dave, the MIPS appeared to have done the trick.  And ZR-1, I was thinking about uploading screenies, but they don't do the problem justice becuase the problem is the way the textures move when you're banking or flying period.

So now I'm off to re-install all my addons that had been lost :(

But not now!  I'm off to San Diego.
