published requiremenSystem Requirements for FS 2k4

Postby Gringo6 » Mon Jul 18, 2005 12:43 pm

According to MicroSoft, the system requirements for FS 2k4 are only slightly more demanding than the system requirements for FS 2k2.

My system runs FS 2k2 ok and are within the published requirements for FS 2k4.

Should I expect it to run FS 2k4 without hardware problems ?

Of course my system exceeds the published requirements for CFS-3 too and it wont run it,
so I'm suspicious of MicroSoft's published system requirements.

I'm well over the "requirements" for 04.  I tried it...But a slide show would be more entertaining :-/  Then again, systems vary.  I cant even max out 02 on this system, yet some people with much less max out without a problem ::)

The minimum requirements say it will run...They just dont say it will run well :-/  At least some other software companies are honest and put more realistic listings on their products :-X

Gringo6,

My system runs FS2k4 better than it runs FS2k2!

I was wary of buying it until eventually I got it for development purposes, not expecting to be able to run it properly - and it runs very well! I have traffic and scenery density at max, with clouds at around 60%. My system is Intel P4 2gHz, 512mB RAM, Radeon 9200SE, if that helps.

The reason you're all getting "satisfactory performance" is because (i presume) you're running it "out of the box". :)
Wait until you factor in AA/AF (Anti aliasing/Antisotropic sp.? filtering)AI aircraft, payware, freeware downloads, terrain mesh etc..
Believe me, I can't get anywhere NEAR max settings with FS2004(check my sig), but with playing around a bit it's as good as i can get it!   ;D
Enjoy!

Hi Rob,

I neglected to mention that I've got a whole stack of AI planes installed, plus huge amounts of terrain mesh and addon scenery (e.g. the new Princess Juliana airport) and it seems to have had little effect. Juliana has the same kind of framerate as the default Heathrow.

I don't understand it - I'm just pleased!

The "minimum specifications" on the fs2004 box basically mean that the system won't go to the "blue screen of death" the instant you try to load it.  Other than that........ go to one of the aircraft still pictures sites on the web.... those images will change at a faster framerate.  ;)

Look at my sig......... it STILL isn't great if you want what the marketing promises.

best,
