Postby alrot » Sat Jul 09, 2005 9:07 pm

Covers?from the Default 737_400,Is it my video card?,after take off, the exterior model doen't show the doors of the landing gear ,instead they appear retract from a down view showing the wheels,   ;D i hope the real aircraft isn't like that, would be very instable in wich aerodinamic means

The 737 does not have a cover over the gear when it is retracted into the aircraft.  The link below is to Airliners.net that shows a 734 in flight.

Apart from the fist few 737-100 and 737-200 no 737's have gear covers. the ones that did had them removed as it isnt the easiest geardoor system maintenance wise.

They did this for weight along with other reasons also.  I always wondered why, I thought having no gear doors would cause drag but appearantly not.  Also alot of other aircraft don't have gear doors, I know the Canadair and Embraer don't.
