Corrupted Scenery

Postby Vagrant » Tue Jul 05, 2005 6:15 pm

I have FS9 with the update and recently upon installing add-on scenery, some buildings at airports has become corrupted. Is there any way  I can fix this without reinstalling?

Heya Vagrant,

The first thing that I would do is remove the Addon Scenery that you installed.  You may have already done this.  Your post wasn't clear.

The first thing that I do to uninstall Addon Scenery is to bring up FS 2004 and from the main page menu go down to the bottom left and click on Settings then click Scenery Library.  Look on the list of Sceneries and select the previously installed scenery and click on Delete Area.  When the prompt window appears asking if you are sure that you want to delete that area click Yes.

The next thing to do is to delete the Addon Scenery off of your hard disk.  The best way that I have found in removing Addon Scenery that you installed is to go to the Addon Scenery folder and open the folder of the scenery that you wish to remove and then open the scenery author's readme.txt file and "do it backwards".

In other words, if the readme.txt file says to copy something then instead delete it.  That's probably what happened in your case.  When installing this scenery you may have copied a *.bgl file to the FS9\Scenery\World folder (for example) and it's still there.

Once you have done this take the folder containing the scenery that you wish to remove and throw it into the Recycling Bin.
Happy Flying -- And may your main wheels always touch down first!
