Make the ATC window invisable

Does anyone know how to make the ATC window invisable while keeping it active?

....uncheck the "Auto Open" box in Settings/Air Traffic Control" and it should only open when you toggle it with the ' (apostrophe) key.........commoner  ;)

thanks commoner. actually my question was asking if there was a way to make the actual ATC window invisable but still there (active). Obviously it isnt as easy as making the gps visable or not, but I'd have to assume it can be done being it has been done w/ making the pause/parking brake/slew display dissapear even though they are still active.

Don't think there is - but if you could you'd have a problem as the responses you have to give are numbered. Quite often even now I hit the reply key too fast and it opens up the 'file flight plan' window or the key I press gets ATC to 'say again' when all I wanted to do was caknowledge. And that 's when you can see the numbers. You could get into a real mess I reckon if you couldn't see the range of replies available and tried to rely on 'memory' which would often be wrong.

Yeah this always bugged me.  If Microsoft had kept certain responses completely "locked" to certain keys that would have been a great comms system.

It would be great if something like "Please say again" could not ALWAYS be #8, for example.  If they were locked ..... then the choices at any given time might not be numerically in order...... like maybe 1, 2, 7, 8, or something.  But after a while flying you'd KNOW what key to press at least for the commonly used ones.

The limitation in this is trying to have single keypresses work with a LOT of commands.  Maybe they could have set it up so that when you pressed the PPT (whatever key initiated broadcasted communications), the entire keyboard became available comm keys.  So then "Please say again" might be the PTT key followed immediately by the "S" key.  That would open up HUGE possibilities for interfacing with voice recognition communications.

Oh well... maybe in fs200X  ;).
