Borders

I have never actually seen a representation of a national or provincial border before in FS, so I was wondering, are there any representations of borders (and if so, where?) in the game, or are there any add-ons that create maybe some generic thing to show borders.

Have you ever flown in a real plane?  There are no borders on the world below.  Putting them in FS would be counterproductive to the "as real as it gets" mantra.

I know, but lets take flying over the US-Mexican border, i'm pretty sure you'll see the fence and the customs areas where the cars go through.

Basically, what I was saying, isn't borders as in lines in maps, but as in fences and such, if you ever fly over a border, such as one in Europe for example, odds are you'll see at least a fence, that's what I'm asking if there is.  Obviously you've never looked out the window going over a border.

There should be a border for NSW and VIC in Australia condidering it's a river. It would be nice to see fences or stuff like that on the ground though.

In general, it would be a pain in the seating area to model the general border "fixtures".  If you set your time and location to Berlin, ca.1988/1989, you can fly and see the Berlin Wall

Yes, i've done that before Felix, but i've noticed the map in the map view doesn't change to reflect East/West Berlin, and the Soviet Union.  I think it'd be cool if there were some conversion mod (well sort of) that also enabled there to be time reflections in the map (i.e, North/South Vietnam, USSR, East/West Germany, Czechslovakia).

I'll say it one more time.  You go model the entire surface of the earth with like 23,000+ airports, add in a comprehensive traffic system and complicated ATC script.

This is like complaining because M$ placed a lake 3 miles east of where it actually was.  Horrors!

I know you weren't complaining, Data, I just wanted to re-make a point I've been arguing since the dawn of time (being about two years ago )  The answer to your question would be no.  However, you may be able to find an add-on somehwere for the US-Mexican border, although I've never seen one.  And most countries don't seperate themselves with a fence.

Well if they don't use fences, what do they use then (Note: for Country borders, state borders like in the US tend not to have anything besides a sign and maybe a line)?

jk, I know what you mean.  For most states, it's only a sign.  However, some places, like the Hoover dam, you will find a line.

The reason there's a border between Spain and the UK at Gibraltar is because they haven't liked eachother for the past 1,000 years or so (and I think Spain wants Gibraltar back, too)

There are almost no real landmarks along either the N or S borders.   The one recognizable feature which is prominant along the forrested areas is the border slash.   What it is amounts to a clear  cut that is virtually hundreds of miles long and 50' wide.  What the US Border Commission does is literally mow the trees down using a pair of D-10 Dozers.  When they get done they just turn around and start over again where they started and it all begins again .  Flying along the slash what you see are countless back yards along it and a whole pile of trails literally everywhere it seems.  
 Smugglers use em as they have for decades.   Border Patrol has most of them if not all mined with sensors so its not as porous as it seems.    The other thing you see nowdays is the constant presence of CBP patrol aircraft, mostly choppers flying along those areas.   They have even more bells and whistles than the military birds have.
Thats about all there is to the North Eastern Border, theres not a whole lot to see really.
