ATC will only give you headings and altitudes etc.. if you fly IFR. In the flight-planner when selecting your departure and destination airports click IFR instead of the default chosen VFR..

Hope that helped,
Echo..

Dig deep into your pockets and purchase FS Navigator.
You can then either plan your flight with it, or do as I do for General Avaition VFR flights, just fly from A to B to C, etc, using the navigation aids/GPS map within the program and using my radios..... ;D...!

Cheers...!

Paul.

Tip:
Do it in a General Aviation aircraft first for practice....not a flippin' complicated  Jumbo 777... ;)... ;D...!

VFR with GPS is good but IFR is a lot easier because all you're doing is either flying or adjusting the autopilot according to ATC's instructions.

I mainly zip between all London airports and near continental airports like Schipol, Frankfurt etc in either ifdg Airbus or Moach's excellent 737 experience, available here at SimV.
But i have a lot of fun, if not more, flying from, for example, Bristol to Cardiff in the default Cessna VFR.
Get used to flying patterns etc 1st.

Not one of the above postings has given the poor guy an answer.

1.   Start FS
2.   Click on create a flight
3.   Click on flightplanner
4.   Choose start and finish airports. KLAX and whatever Manila is
5.   Choose IFR
6.   Choose type of airway
7.   Find Route
8.   Allow FS to move you to your start airport
9.   File your flightplan with AT
10. Follow ATC instructions.

Don't forget you'll need a 747 for LAX-Manila
There you go.

and Paul ..... VFR over the Pacific even you couldn't find anything interesting  ;)

I've got a little warning sticker on my Cessna 152 instrument panel....
It says...
"Keep away from large expanses of water!".

Paul...."What's a 747?"....::)...!

...you have to admit there is still something rewarding about landing an A320 whether it be in perfect weather or zero vis. w/ 25 mph winds blowing at you.
