Chances are it's the repaint for the Olsson F-16 Viper.  Get that first, or you won't have anything to fly.

Just read the file desciption carefully of the aircraft you wish to down load. In General, in the description, if it will says  it is textures only it is an addon or mod for an aircraft that exists as a flyer. If the line "textures only" is not written then it is a safe bet that you can fly what you download.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Hello.  Sounds like you're new here.  There are many aircraft here that do not have or require any additional stuff.  Download a few different planes.  Anything for now, just to get the idea of how to do it.  The downloads are in zip files, they have to be unzipped after downloading, click twice on the zip folder, and you'll then see regular folders inside, one of which should be the aircraft.   There are excellent tutorials on this site which explain how to install the aircraft.  As Hype said, some downloads are textures only; read the aircraft description, it should specify such, and usually will have a link to the complete aircraft file.  If you continue to have problems, just ask again, and be patient, we are all here to help you and you'll be up and flying.  You may encounter an aircraft that does not work in FS2004, which is why you need to try a bunch out.

Welcome tennm1980. Simviation is a great site. Plenty of people willing to help, tons of excellent stuff to add to your flying experience and lots of good info.

Sooner or later though, you are going to want some of the excellent acft., scenery or utilities that require you to do some editing or adding and moving files. Start slow and always back up the files you are going to replace or modify.

On Simviation's main page are some good tutorials that explain the ins and outs of adding the more complex acft., aliasing sounds, adding scenery etc.

I strongly urge you to find some time and read up on these subjects.............I promise, it is time well spent and info you are going to have to rely on sooner or later.

Again, welcome to Simviation and enjoy the friendship.

Happy flying!    ;D

I had problems at first too finding downloaded airplanes due to the manufacturer listed. The airplane select dropdown lists aircraft by manufacturer and that's what you need to look for. Sometimes too add on developers don't use the same conventions when creating the .cfg file. I've seen everything from DeHavilland, De Havilland to De Havelland. All these will show up with different entries in the select airplane list. Quickest way I found is to open the aircraft.cfg file in the folder in Notepad and see what is listed beside "Manufacturer". This is what I then look for in the drop down inside the sim.

One way to find a/c on the list I find is to select ANY from the list then you are more likely to spot it...........commoner ;)

Well when you get the chance, let me know the name of the zip file.  That way there is no doubt as to what we're dealing with.  I'm guessing you're talking about Mike Stone's C-130, but I can't tell...
