no fs 2006 this year

Postby marick626 » Wed May 25, 2005 9:46 pm

Almost from the horses mouths, we met with those that know in LA at E3 and it is now clear that Microsoft plan the next release of their de-facto Flight Simulator during the summer of 2006. So no panic please, a new version is not about to launch which gives all Flight Sim fans plenty of time to enjoy the latest incarnation (FS2004) before the new version ships. Fear not, we will keep you all informed as to the developments of the new version, as and when Microsoft actually make their intentions clear

Well, I hope this means it will be vastly improved. Dont get me wrong, I love FS9, but if its going to take that long, then it should be way better.

I'm not bothered when it is released, just as long as it is good.  ;)

I guess some don't understand the amount of programming goes into a flight sim ::)

It's obviously their best choice.. Although I think work on FS10 is almost completed, but they just didn't have much time left to properly advertise the new version, and to show it off at E3, so, now they can put their efforts for the new X360. & let's hope they get the best out of this extra time to make a HUGE step FORWARD for the next release.  :P

For now, I suggest we take a year off for our nerves to rest - we deserve it -, and finally i'm glad we have something to say for those who just can't wait!   ;D

Thanks for the news marick!  ;)

My point in this matter is that if they take the time (another year, more or less) to make simulator that is better and devoid of bugs, then it's worth it.

Probably Micro$oft wants for the version number 10 of their simulator to be something... more than any previous version. Who knows.

Very true, fs2004 ACOF is not a major jump over fs2002 Pro.

How much programming does go into an updated piece of software like FS10?

That's the thing...FS9 was not a major step over fs2k2, it was almos a simple upgrade, a VERY nice upgrade, but an upgrade...

With FS10 I hope they really make the huge step that FS deservs...I mean, just look at the graphics we're getting in HL2 and imangine if that quality could be achieved in the next FS:D

I just hope the step we'll have to make in our machines isn't a huge one...let's see

now that we all know when it's coming out, the threads about when's a video or screens available will start lol ;D ;D ;D

so microsoft are behind by releasing 2006 in 2006? there has never been an official timeline for the sim and people should consider themselves lucky that it has been released every 2 years so far. If its going to be next year and the improvements are noticed then so be it. They havent given a release date so its not like they are trying to meet expectations and anyone who gets so pissed off about it needs to grow up and get a life outside of computers. if its said to be out in 2006 by MS and then its delayed till 2007 or beyond then by all means come back and complain.
