:)

Aha..excellent. Derek, watch out for the ILS though. I found that as I approached Prestwick it dipped below the GS and if I hadn't switched to manual I'd have 'landed' well short of the threshold. I still had a lot of fuel on board though, so that could have explained it.

Might if been a bit harsh with my earlier criticism of the package as I don't think the POSKY aircraft has a VC either, so even with this little FDE change this becomes a not-bad package.

...lol....ILS what's that?

Goodinit.

I haven't flown any heavies for a while now but after this I downloaded a few different panels (to replace my old much loved and modded classic FS98 versions), some with side views cos there's no VC with any 747 except default, and have just done a flight from KLAX to Vegas in an Atlas Cargo. Good fun.

Plane's not one from this package but an old FS2002 POSKY one in my folder that I moved onto after trying these ones out. Have to say, this Meljet package is pretty good after all.

Hi Al..well I hope you have a fast connection as it is a BIG download.........you will also probably find that it doesn't fly well (not at all well ::))

The Rollerball suggestion to replace the .air file (not the .cfg) with the one from the default 747-400 makes it work quite well so get a copy of that and rename it exactly as the one you are replacing that is..Boeing747-400-MR-MKIII.air....If you don't want all the different liveries you can always get rid of some.............commoner ;)

you know rajiv2 I'll never ask it my self that very interested question

I think it attached with *.mdl ,*.air is encrypted not readable, they are the dinamics of flying parameters Eg power of each engine, sustend,DIAMETER between *.mdl and*.air to make mach and only the computer understand this lenguage,*.cfg I think have to be with the functions and looking, are editable(thats the purpose)i think.... ???  ::)  ;)

So if you wanted to adjust the engine thrust you would use the CFG file? You can modify the thrust in the AIR file with AirEd as well..

Wich one to change the thrust?

YAAAAAHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Thanks to all for your invaluable help. I replaced and renamed the .air file and I couldnt be happier.  All 30 of my 747's actually behave and fly quite nicely.

To recap and make sure I understand the various files

.mdl is the model file and is unique to that particular aircraft. That means you can not take a .mdl file from a Meljet and place it into a Posky aircraft and not have problems.

The .cfg file locates the various items on the model, such as navigation lights (my mysterious UFO's), contact points
thrust and fuel control, electrical system behavior, etc. and is editable. Again these files are aircraft specific and you can not take a .cfg file  file from a Meljet and place it into a Posky aircraft and not have problems.

The .air file is a general flight behavior file and can be exchanged between diferent models of the same type aircraft.

The texture files are the files that contain the aircraft body paint and are specific to their respective models.

Did I pass Teacher Commoner?
