An Idea..

Postby wilderobb » Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:24 pm

The other day I downloaded "Trees" from somewhere and after opening it up I found the Effects to place in my Effects folder. But first the readme said to back up your original files in case you don't like it. And well said indeed! But I wonder if everybody backs up there files like they should.  Now then;  It would be great if someone who has a clean install post those files as a library. Ie. Default Effects-Gauges-Sound-Texture Ect. That way one could revert to the originals if they screwed up in some way. I do like the "trees" I put in, and did back up my files but I don't keep the backed up files too long. Soooo...  Thanks for listening, Wildie.

I'm sure posting those files would violate something.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I always back up my gauges and effects folders on a fresh install.  Everything else I don't bother with.

Easiest & quickest way I know to back up files or folders. In Windows Explorer right-click on the file/folder & select Copy. Now right-click in a clear space in the same window & select Paste. You will now have a copy of the file/folder named "Copy of whatever". I always do this before modifying default files.

I usually right click, select "send to compressed" and zip it so I have a slightly smaller, more easily identifiable folder... ;)

That's fine if you have WinXP. ;)

Good idea though.

PS. If you have WinZip installed you can do the same thing with the right-click 'Add to ..... Zip' option. This zips up the file/folder leaving the original in place.
