EGSY objects.

Postby commoner » Thu Jun 02, 2005 3:52 am

Hi all and Birdman too.........Has anybody managed to install the extra cars etc in Birdman's excellent Sheffield city EGSY?

The latest version requires that you get seperate extra objects which I have down loaded and have tried installing them every way I can think of and that is quite a few...still no success...........the Zip contains a scenery folder which has a cars.bgl and the various different cars bitmaps in it..........there is a texture folder with no files in it....I have the airport installed in Addon Scenery.

Anybody sort me out please..........the new airport looks great but the cars not showing is bugging me........cheers....commoner. :)

Sorry Commoner! I realise I've left you a little in the lurch over this :'( I had thought you were using the full installer package, thats why I'm confused ;) If you have the package installed correctly your addon scenery folder will contain the following (purple bits are the important bits):

If not, you can copy contents of the addon scenery folder in the extra objects download (bottom - http://www.simviation.com/members/fsdesign_scenery8.htm) to your FS9 addon scenery folder if the Setup.exe excecutable doesn't work.

Hope this helps - sorry for all the confusion  :)

Commoner

I believe the problem is there is a file missing from Birdmans 'Extra objects (install contents to Addon scenery).zip', to make the Extra Objects work with out the full 15Mb 'ExtraObjects.zip' download.

The file is 'ExtraObjects.bgl', 1.5Mb.

Once you have that file and the files from Birdmans 'Extra objects(install............' file, they get placed in your Addon Scenery folder as such.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

OK, from where your at:

From the '..\Addon scenery\Sheffield City Airport EGSY\scenery\' folder, move the 'cars.bgl' file to the '..\Addon scenery\scenery\' folder.

From the '..\Addon scenery\Sheffield City Airport EGSY\texture\' folder move the 'car*.bmp' and 'truck*.bmp' files to the '..\Addon scenery\texture\' folder.

Your still missing the 1.5Mb 'ExtraObjects.bgl' file. Once you get that file, it gets placed in the '..\Addon scenery\scenery\' folder.

You'll have to get that file from the full ExtraObjects download (15Mb) mentioned in Birdmans reply, or as i mentioned I could send it(1.5Mb).

Damn! The secrets out  >:(

Thanks Dave - what a plonker I am :'( Never upload a file at midnight - miracle anything worked at all lol :-/

Birdman, great scenery, I'll be following it progress. Being from the US I dont fly the UK much, but when I do I will surely make a stop at Sheffield.  :)

Hehe - thanks, lots of scenery being developed for the north of England at the mo so perhaps make a round trip once its all out ;) Don't want to come all of the way to England just to pop into sheffield city lol!

This one should be a must on your hop list! - these are from Stevo's soon to be released Durham Tees Valley scenery (Formerly Teesside).
