Postby jordonj » Thu May 26, 2005 10:07 pm

This is from the JustFlight site:

http://www.justflight.com/en/(bp0iyamuknetyv45oqtsm045)/index.aspx

Almost from the horses mouths, we met with those that know in LA at E3 and it is now clear that Microsoft plan the next release of their de-facto Flight Simulator during the summer of 2006. So no panic please, a new version is not about to launch which gives all Flight Sim fans plenty of time to enjoy the latest incarnation (FS2004) before the new version ships. Fear not, we will keep you all informed as to the developments of the new version, as and when Microsoft actually make their intentions clear

So, there you have it!

I may be the odd man out, but I'm sort of happy that the next flight sim will be held off for awhile.
I have worked a bit to get FS9 to where it is today and I'm extremly happy with it and wasn't looking forward to getting the next version and starting from scratch! lol

But I would like to know some info as to what the next version may have in store for us and I really hope that it will be compatible with all the goodies we have available to us now! I would like to see it be able to merge with FS9 sort of like the IL2 series combat sim can, or if it will contain just minimal enhancements be released as a add-on at a lower cost.
Still curious as to what MS has in store for us, but slightly relived for the extended release time!

I always said I'd wait for after Fs9 and do a total PC upgrade for the next version.

I failed in my resolve by getting Fs9 and the comp. won't handle it to my satisfaction.

So what did I do?

Went and got a R/C helicopter and now I'm upgrading THAT ::) That's the best part of the 'puter upgrade gone!

Some just never learn :(

Cheers
Colin

Count me as one of those not bothered by the wait - in fact I just started using FS2004 over 2002, with the driving reasons being a couple of "must-have" add-ons that were only available in the latter version.

a combat element would be great. even if its just ability to add in DM's and bullets that go with this.

i dont mean AI or anything as that would take too long in the dev but i mean just the ability to shoot things as it were and of course in online shoot other people, could be one hell of a combat sim,

of course options would need to be implemented for those not interested in the combat side of things, perhaps for online servers a simply option to disable the 'bullets' etc.

sorry am dreaming again  ;D

I must confess that my computer really was bought only for fs and while 2002 runs quite well fs9 requires me to shut down any background programs and even then I get a framerate 'stutter' in some situations.

I've also found that some other games won't run because the system can't handle them.

This system is now 4yrs old and already had open heart surgery(hdd) and while it is satisfactory in most areas it isn't in the area I most want-maybe I shouldn't have bought fs9!

The upgrade I'm thinking of is going to head towards $1500 aud but that brings it up to just under 64bit specs at last look and 3.2G.

I haven't quite spent that on my helicopter and it will also pay for some good real air time. The memory of a magnificent flying day in a R22 remains in my memory more than anything I've done in FS.

What to do? At the moment I'm opting to forgo the upgrade for the R/C and more real time flying hours-aerobatics next time out(and , yes , I'd love to have a Pilots Licence but health dictates this will never be)

Cheers
Colin

My last post I said my R22 flight was a memory over anything in FS.

I am wrong.

My completion of John Consterdine's RTW flight will remain with me all my life as no other memory will.

Still missed,John.

John's RTW site is still open by the way, although not a lot happening.

Cheers
