If you want to do something that hasn't been done before (at least to my knowledge) try it in a the default Bell helo.  ;D

hi guys

what about a cessna 337 (mikes stones one). It is a twin engine so if i have a prob over the antlantic i should be able to get back ok its is also slightly faster and is able to takeoff and land on very small strips so if i have a prob i wont have a long way to fly to find a suitable feild

Plz give me your opinion, Thx Matt 8)

P.S i dont want to use a plane like the backbird its way to fast i want it to be nice and slow so i can see the sights.

Something relativly fast.
Aerobatic potential (cos you'll get bored), but something thats easy to land.
I'd say the

I just did it in a Tornado - even then it took ages.  I think to cross the atlantic you will need to go north Canada, southern Greenland, western Iceland then northern scotland. :D

Lol, i did this last year in a 737, over a period of about 2 weeks though, flying an hour a day or so.
I'd definatly recomend an aircraft with an autopilot though, thats the only advice i have.

It has been done!, in real life that is, maybe not in a sim!

I think I'm just going to do it in the default Cessna 172 as a long-term project.  Can't wait to get started!

Excellent choice... ;D...!
Anything larger will be more expensive to operate, (running costs, landing fees, etc, etc,) and for that reason you would need some serious sponsorship... ::)... :'(...!

I also fancy the idea of the Yellow Piper Super Cub)... 8)... ;D...!

The only thing I would like to suggest is to not "over plan", and take your time. go where you feel like going, and let it take you around the world. Ive been doing a trip across america, picking a new destination each time I fly, and its been fun, I might just go for it when I reach Alaska, and cross the straight again. This time Ill probably try to avoid to much Russia though. Boring place! (sorry Vic

Well after reading this thread I've decided to do my own global tour. I'm going to base it roughly on the hop list from wspilots.com (recommended by B_29) & I shall be using (or starting off in at least) the Howard 500 - I love the engines on that bird & can't think of a better soundtrack to fly around the world too.

I'll start off from Gatwick (Hop No. 422 on the list) & follow it roughly from there.

hi again guys

im now stuck between two planes. The cessna 172 and the cessna 337, i belive the 337 will be much safer as if i have an engine fail i can still fly with the other, i know this is not useually a problem but if im flying across the atlantic and the engine goes in a 172 im stuffed, and because of this reason i think i will do it in the 337 8)

OK so ive chosen the plane and have chosen where im going to fly from and thats Northolt  AB i will be setting off for france in the next few days, if anyone want to join me tell me and we can sort somethin out but i think youll have to host

Thx Matt ;)

Good luck on your world tour, Littleport2003. The last one I did ended somewhere in Africa. Today I started a new one, exploring the Caribbean and South-America. After that I don't know yet. Flying a Douglas DC-3 with modified panel I hope to go around the world all the way. Good luck to all who also want to try, it's harder than you think.

Crash ;)

Good Luck.

I'm in the Middle East on my 'Round the World Sim flight.
I left 52B Greenville, Me in a Grumman Albatross.

Hey All,

I'm working on starting a trip of my own as well. I'm going to visit every capital city (country, state, province, territory, departmento, etc) in North America that I can including central America and the Carribiean. Lots of short hops and some long ones as I'm going to include Honolulu. I've got a strategy for keeping track on a map and I've got the route more or less figured out. The plane I plan to use is the extra 400 as I want a piston engine, high wing for visibility, reasonable speed (180 kts IAS) , good avionics and autopilot and range 1100 to as much as over 2000 nm depending on speed and winds. No VC though but I can live without it. Then maybe I'll try an around the world trip! Good Luck to those of you doing it!

Take Care! -Ed-
