The Instrument Rating Checkride

Postby Pen-15 » Wed Apr 27, 2005 12:28 pm

...have anyone passed it succesfully?

I have problems with the part where I fly from PARKK intersection to SEA VOR. That woman tells me at PARKK to climb to 3000 feet and turn heading 160, i do so and soon she tells me to get in to 140 radial to SEA VOR. I fly perfectly over SEA VOR and then I should enter the holding, by stadard rate right turn. I manage to do so and when I've flew about 20 seconds on the outbound leg she starts whining about that I didn't enter the holding pattern correctly.

Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

Have a quick look through this thread:

I recall Rottydaddy (Aswell as lot's of others) experiencing problems with the check rides.

Might be of some help.

Cheers,

I passed the first one private pilot the 1st time I had been flying for a few months before I tried it. But after the 8 or 9th time on the instrument one I gave up.

I guess I could eventually pass at least the PP checkride, but I'd put my fist thru the monitor before it was over!God bless anyone who can pass these rides; I just got the impression that the virtual CFI was completely insane. It was like being checked out by HAL 9000...
