aircraft.cfg help requested....

Postby jb2_86_uk » Mon Apr 25, 2005 3:21 pm

Hey folks, since uploading my first aircraft a few weeks ago, I have been splashing my paint brush about more! - with the idea of making a 'mega-pack' of several airline liveries! anyway I have finished the 19 aircraft I intended to do, so now I have got 19 aircraft folders. I know its possible to put all the texture folders into one aircraft folder (because theyre the same aircraft!), but then you have the problem of getting msfs to recognise all the textures as different planes! I hope this is making sense. So how do I alter an aircraft.cfg file to allow for the 19 liveries. Gawd that was hard! If you think you can help,id would very much appreciate a speedy response!

Thanks alot guys! Happy Simming

John

Hope this is what you are looking for...First step, make separate folders for all 19 liveries and insert the appropriate textures into each.

thats brilliant thanks alot CAFedm.

Another thing, on some of the aircraft the airline call sign is not showing when communicating with atc, just the flight number, although all the fields in the aircraft.cfg file are filled in, does anyone know why this might be? To help with my aircraft.cfg tinkering, could somebody please explain what the following lines correspond to in the sim:

title=
atc_airline=
ui_variation=

Thanks alot, you guys dont know how much help you are to people like me!!! lol Keep it up!

So in your example would the texture line always have a number in it, or would you use "texture=BA" or "Texture=air_Canada"?

(edit)

Asking CAFedm.  ;)

I would just like to add that I have successfully created an aircraft.cfg file for the 19 different textures, and I am now about to upload the 'Boeing 7E7-800 JB Megapack' to the site! Thank you to everyone's help!

Hi, guess it worked then.  As Tacitblue said, the folder doesn't need to be numbered, as long as whatever name assigned to it matches what's in the aircraft.cfg it will work OK.  (The MS default planes have numbered textures probably for simplicity's sake)

title=any unique name you like, appears at the 'selected aircraft' on the 'create a flight' window, also is the string used to identify the a/c when creating AI flightplans with TTools. (if it is not unique the a/c may not be available in the 'select aircraft' window, and will cause an error in TTools)

atc_airline= the airline callsign, must be an ATC recognized callsign to be spoken, for a list go here:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002misc1.htm
or here:
http://www.homepages.mcb.net/bones/04fs/download/downloads.htm
Other recognized callsigns can be created/added using 'EditVoicePack'.

ui_variation=Any thing you want to further describe the a/c in the 'select aircraft' window, i.e.-'White and blue' or 'American Airlines'.

A good place to start when looking for info about the Sim components is the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK's page.
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp
For help with the 'aircraft.cfg' file get the 'aircraft container sdk'

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
