Sports car of the skies

Postby chomp_rock » Sat Apr 23, 2005 1:13 pm

I've been looking for some AC that are fun to fly recently and decided to ask the folks here. What is, in your opinion, the best freeware "sports car of the skies" (good high/low speed performance, good accel., relatively good STOL performance etc.) available for FS9 now?

I personally think it is the Mig 19 by Yan Tao.

Lancair Legacy, no doubt. Even if I wouldn't put it under the STOL category (been a while since I used it, but could never forget that in landing behaved almost like a Lear :)), it's surely one of the fastest and most nicely rendered freeware single engine around for FS9.

Lancair Legacy.
Although I have to say the Eurofighter is pretty cool (DSB) even though the cockpit is disappointing.

Well you know where I stand, Mr Mitchells finest ;D The Aeroplane Heaven Seafire is the one to have (freeware), and the RealAir Spitfire XIV is the payware daddy ;)

The Corsair is the Mac Daddy of all of them...  I have a feeling the Aeroplane Heaven version is going to be awesome too.

Bell 402 or a similar chopper.

It has amazing low-speed performance  ;), handles crisply at higher speeds, accelerates like a C6 Corvette, and has astonishingly short takeoff rolls.... ;D

me too... i have have to say... after reading your post i immediately thought: lancair legacy!!!

it can be very fast, but it also very small, light and maneuverable... and, in my opinion, can be landed almost like a cessna

it also has a very good VC also

Fairey Delta 2. ;D

Goes like a bat out of hell. Only problem is is landing. I'm yet to find an airstrip long enough cause it just bounces down the runway like a kangaroo on speed.
