2. take away the 100,000 ft barrer

That's not possible without rediesigning the entire FS world. For practical purposes, the globe isn't a globe at all, but a cylinder. This dramatically improves framerates and is much easier to texture. To increase the height limit would mean that it becomes very obvious of the world's shape. Very few planes fly above 100,000 feet, so it doesn't generally cause a problem.

hmm. . .they didn't have a 100,000 foot barrer in fs2000, i was hoping that they could take it away or make it higher

don't know if anybody has mentioned this but there is a sim called Orbiter available for download. You can fly the shuttle amoung other things. Good sim but no sound, but in space there is no sound any way.  :)

There was no physcial barrier in FS2000, but once you got above about 100,000 feet everything got all distorted.  It was like a wierd glitch.  So in a way there was a barrier (sort of).

As for the 100,000' barrier:  instead of making a seamless integration of the earth and space, after several hundred thousand feet, the simulator could switch to something called . . . 'space', which would be another part of the simulator.  ie - the simulator would pause for a moment and reload the settings in the 'space' simulator.  All that would be needed was an empty area of space (say, the distance between the earth and the moon) and two or three 'dummy' objects-earth, the moon and the sun.  Flight dynamics would have to be changed, and loading times would go up, but its a small price to pay for spaceworthy flying, is it not?

As for other wishlist stuff, how about more types of engines, such as tiltrotor aircraft (V22, etc) and missile-like rocket engines (X-1, X-2, and so on)

I think the spaceflight idea is interesting, but I think it would require more work, time, and money than M$ is willing to spend.  If we want spaceflight, it'll have to come in "Space Simulator 20##" (lol).  I don't think M$ would be willing to combine what could be turned into two seperate simulators into one sim.  I doubt there are even planning a space simulator, but thats an entire different arguement.

A little off topic, but I have seen on some aircraft config files a selection for an engine type that is a rocket.  Does anyone know if this is for real, or where I can find one? ???

I was just looking at the COF website and it looks pretty good. Hopefully it will work on most computers unlike CFS3.
One thing I would like to see in future flight simulators is 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound. There are some sims that support multi-channel sound (X-Wing Alliance has 3D sound while newer versions of the Comanche Heli sim have dolby digital) but I think it would make the flight simulator much better. I hope it comes on FS COF comes on DVD because nothing paralles DVD sound, I also hate a lot of discs too.

A lot have people are interested in Space Sims. Try www.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/~martins/orbit/orbit.html
This is the sim called Orbiter, which I mentioned above. It's a big download (100+MBs) but it's FREE! Decent graphics with no sound. (no sound in space anyway) Excellent scenery graphics with stunning views of the moon, earth, and mars as well as all other planets except pluto. Take off from earth or from the ISS in the space shuttle Atlantis or several fictional space craft. Realistic control in space and atmospheric flight. Some missions included but mostly free flight. Read instructions first because flying in space is way different than in the atmosphere.  8)

with the thing about DVD's there are still some people (like me, i wish i could get my dad to let me get 1) without a DVD-rom drive. i think that if M$ where to make it so u must have a DVD drive they would lose alot of bussness. well atleast mine.

U know what would be nice, s*** had something good now i forget it. UMMMMMMMM something so that when you creat a high altitude flight plan it dosent make you do something like it had me do (britan to KJFK) fly down to eygpt then fly over to the airport and going the other way (at least to france) it had me flying up to new foundland then over the ocean. what is that point of that?

Depending on what type of flight plan you used (GPS, VOR, etc) the sim took the flight plan and changed it to suit the purposes of real flight travel.

In the real world, flying those great distances means you have to take a strange-looking flight route.  When an aircraft flies from Brisbon to the US, it curves up towards the North pole, and when taking a trip from India to Australia, it curves towards the South pole.

The reason for this is the straight line route from Brisbon to JFK is actually longer than the route that curves north.  FS tries to simulate that, but the dimensions of the simulator don't conform.  If you want to read more about this, I suggest a website devoted to planning long-range flights from continent to continent.
