I tried searching the olf topics..........and couldn't find anything on this.
Who knows...I could be a dumb arse who can't "figure out the game"...lol

Anyway, I have some aircraft that when talking to ATC, they always cal it...."experamental...blah...blah...blah....)

I want to change it so it reads a different callsign than experamental.

Any ideas...... :(

Standard reply - same principles apply for FS2004  ;)

Every FS2002 aircraft has an aircraft.cfg file and there are two sections that you need to look at. Look at the following examples that are taken from one of my POSKY 767s.

Firstly the [fsim.n] section. If you only have one aircraft in the folder (ie one texture folder) this will be fsim.0. If you have several (like the various default 737s, you will have [fsim.0], [fsim.1] etc. Each will have section similar to the following.

ui_manufacturer=Boeing

To get proper ATC for BA you need a bit like the part shown in red.

The part shown in green incidentally controls how the plane is shown in your list of aircraft.

Now the [general] section. This applies to all aircraft in the folder however many there are. It will look something like this.

[General]
performance=Passengers\n3-class conf...etc..blah..blah

atc_type=BOEING
atc_model=B763


You must have two lines like the ones in red above for correct ATC plus you can't just type in anything - only certain descriptions are recognised. Someone listed them somewhere eg you can't get Concorde to come up, only Britishaerospace (edit - actually you can get Concorde now).

Try experimenting. If you leave flight number blank ATC will revert to tail number so 'Speed Bird 1969' will become 'Speed Bird Golf minus Bravo November Whisky Charlie' the minus is pathetic I think - I don't know why M$ couldn't have corrected it in the final release and leaving it out in the atc_id part gives false call outs.

The ATC response, 'Experimental' comes when you use an 'atc_type=' or atc_model=' that is not recognized.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I noticed that today there was a new utility that was uploaded. It is call Flight Sim Manager. I was wondering if anyone has the new one and what is differant than the last one? Can I just update the old one without loosing my information??????

I have the previous FSM and it had all of the call signs that there are, included in it. All you had to do was hit one button and wala, there you go. Then while choosing the plane you want to fly click on the change tail number button. Or something like that and become airforce one, or New Zealand Air or whatever.

Another cool thing about it is that there is a diagnostic tool that helps you fix a plane if there is a problem, a installer/uninstaller and many more things.

This is the solution to your problems.
