Question....

Postby Gunny04 » Fri Mar 25, 2005 11:03 pm

I figured out how to change a paint scheme on a plane for FS2k4... My question then, How do I put all the schemes I want for one plane into that so they all load up, rather then change them everytime I wanna fly a different scheme? Cheers, and thanks! Gunny04

You edit the aircraft.cfg file... ;-)

It depends on how you saved it...

typically the folder your new paint scheme is in is called texture.x where the x denotes the next number available for texture..

ie if you already have 4 paint schemes in your folder your new paint scheme would reside in texture.4

now when you open the aircraft.cfg file in notepad look for a thing labeled:

[fltsim.0]

copy that section down to where it says:

[fltsim.1]

scroll down to the end of those statements and before any other sections labeled General, etc.. and paste what you copied

Now go to the top of what you just pasted and change the number in the [fltsim.0] to reflect your new texture in our case that would be:

[fltsim.5]

And lastly be sure to change the ui_variation to include something to let you know that your repaint is different.. ;-)

ui_variation= "You paint scheme name" or something similar.. ;-)

Hope this helps.. ;-)

If you don't understand this there are others out there who are better at this and can go in depth even better...if nothing else you could do a scan through the forums looking for more answers.. ;-)

hmmm....is this aircraft flyable?

I didn't know that you could have an aircraft without an aircraft.cfg file in the folder....  ???

I've had airplanes before where I've lost the aircraft.cfg file and not been able to fly the plane....

But never one without that would work....
