does that mean the 767 was a new addition, perhaps you should get rid of the file and try msfs again! if it stll doesnt work, perhaps do a system restore.

Good luck

System restore sounds good-and I always give this peice of advice: empty out your myflts (or whatever its called in fs9) folder.  If you have important saves in there, then just delete your last couple of saves.

I will try the flights clear.  But honestly, how would installing a new aircraft affect the oeration of the sim?

Thanks for the tip.  More posts welcome with any other knowledge!!!!

I have had this happen with some add on planes. remove it from your aircraft folder and you should be ok. I don't know what causes this to happen but I just dump the new plane and go back to flying.

Sorry to hear that, Dave!
I hope you get back to the wild blue yonder soon!!

I will cross my fingers that my problem is that FS is allergic to a new aircraft and not needing to be shipped cross country!

If removing the aiplane doesn't work you might also try moving your FS9.cfg file and letting ACOF build a new one. During the spash screen the sim is reading the FS9.cfg and setting up the sim parameters. I had the same problem not long ago and that fixed it.

[glb]Update[/glb]

I rebuilt fs9.cfg, removed all aircraft installed that day, performed a system restore to the last day I remember flying, and re-installed the latest version of directX.

Oh man.  I had the exact same problem a while ago on my rig.  It turned out I carelessly downloaded and installed a SP2 network update for XP while running SP1, which caused a bunch of games to go wonky, including FS9.  I ended up having to reinstall XP to flush the thing out of my system.  Not even a restore got rid of it.  I wasn't a very happy camper myself  :-[

I hope you have better luck than I did!

Hey,

Yeah, same thing happened to me in FS2002. What you amy find happens, is if you double click the FS9 icon to start it, leave your PC for 10mins then it will start. But when i was ruinning FS2002 i ahd to re-install MS WinXp to get it to work again.

Tell me how it works out

Downloaded aircraft can interfere with FS if they add new gauge files (.gau).  These files are effectively program files (they're really .dlls) and we all know what programs can do!

I've had FS crash because a .gau file supplied with a download was faulty.

i don't know if youve tried this already... but here it goes

reinstall FS over the previous installation, this will not delete your addons, but it is not guaranteed to work or to not cause even more problems

just a thought

c ya

Yoooo Dude..... I totally sympathise with your current FS9 malfunction...... I had the same event happen and was grounded for nearly 3weeks.... but thanks to the help and advice from the residents at Simviation I was back in the air before I ended up completely bald.... ::)
Before I asked Simviation for help I had already uninstalled and re-installed FS9 a half-a-dozen times...
Its seems only all the FS9 files that where installed in the first place are removed when you uninstall. All your payware / freeware installations will be unaffected by the removal of FS9 and will remain in the Flight Sim folder...
I backed up the "My Saved Flights" folder in My Documents, deleted the FS9.cfg file and removed my last know tweakage before my problem occured... I re-started my FS9 and was suckin' down on some Champagne less than 45 seconds later.... The only bummer is that you are gonna have too set up all your FS9 settings, inc key assignments, from scratch :(... A small price to pay, I think, to have FS9 up and running again....
I wish you the best of luck in your plight RT.....  Si_Combat... ;)
