AI traffic

Postby John_HR » Thu Mar 24, 2005 6:54 pm

::) Anyone that can answer my question: why do many AI aircraft land, and then stop on the runway, and "POP" they disappear instead of taxiing to the terminal?
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Will appreciate very much anyone that can help me with this.

I have found that happens when there is no parking available for the aircraft. Not much you can do except increase available parking at that particular airport using AFCAD

John, this is a TTools and AFCAD thing. Check out the postings over there. It's because you don't have enough of the right kind of parking (for that size/type of aircraft) at the airports in question

Are these default AI? or have you added AI?

If you have added additioinal AI (or even dafault AI I suppose) and they land but have no place to park they will dissapear.

From the Traffic Tools Readme.htm

Aircraft disappear shortly after landing
This usually means there are no gates or parking spaces for the aircraft. This can either be because there is no parking of the appropriate size at that airport, or all the appropriate parking spaces are already filled. Jets the size of a 737 or larger require a gate (gates are all larger than ramp parking), so if a 737 lands at an airport without any gates then It will disappear. Also see the next paragraph.

Can I add or change parking spaces?
You can use a program called AFCAD to add or enlarge parking spots

Cheers,
Dave

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Aircraft disappear after landing
You must have enough parking spaces of a large enough size for all the aircraft that are landing or they will disappear when they slow down on the runway. If that is not an issue then the problem is probably caused by an unconnected parking spot or an unconnected node/link somewhere. The AI will be assigned the next available parking spot in sequence from the parking list and if the next parking spot is unconnected to the taxi system then the AI software will consider the airport full (for that size of aircraft) even if there are plenty of other connected parking spots available further down the list. Use the Fault Finder tool to locate unconnected links.

;D Thanks a lot guys, used AFCAN, and problem fixed, what a great forum and friends willing to share their knowledge.

Thank you all very much.
