Alias Panels vs Regular Panels

Postby JerryKGSP » Tue Mar 22, 2005 12:22 pm

I have noticed that some of the panels that I have aliased cause more stuttering, especially on turns.  Is it better to have the whole panel in the panel folder even though that takes up more space???   ???

Shouldn't make any difference. I've never noticed it.

About the only differance I have noticed is when a panel uses a .cab file for gauges and they are in a seperate folder within the gauge folder. if you alias that panel it can take a second or two to access the .cab file thus causing a stutter. For those cases I just make a copy of the panel and put it where I want it. It does take more room but it does not usually present any problems.

Thanks fellas.  The stuttering must be coming from something else then.  Any suggestions on what to check on for the stuttering?

Aliasing is not so popular (or important) with the large hard drives fitted to most PCs these days. It was originally done to keep the download size down & save valuable HD space. If separately installed panels works for you I suggest you use this method.

I really don't see why aliasing to an existing panel would cause any noticeable stutter, even with XML gauges in their own subfolders.
