How many of us would buy a "game" that had 20 DVDs, took 3 days to load, needed a 200gb HD, and cost $5000? And still had the wrong flowers in my yard?

What he said. Let's look for blatant, almost unexplainable, easily fixable mistakes here. It's just plain stupid to bicker about scenery, honestly.

The only things that I see that M$ should do s just improve the AI setup by a notch and start using UP-TO-DATE-AS-POSSIBLE sat images.

The water textures in FS2002 looked better than FS9. Note to Bill Gates: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ::) Solution to this problem: just simply revert to fs2002 water in FSX.

I changed my mind about the serious glitches [deep holes, giant spikes, etc.]. I think they should stay there. Those things were really fun to fly around in. ;D

That's it. The rest, we can fix from there with our addons and utilities.

..Hi I_Z...you can taxi up to the refuelling station on most of the airfields and your tanks will be automatically filled.....OR on the Create a Flight screen click the Fuel and Payload button then the Change Fuel Button....commoner. ;)

Hey, I've noticed some mistakes too....

1) RAYC (Royal Adelaide Yacht Club) is missing.

2) Shore School for Boys, Sydney is missing

3) My house!

4) Other-than-American voices in the ATC.

... fix that hole in Arkansas.

This may be a question for the designer forum but what software is needed to decompile MS's scenery files, make the necessary edits to fill in the big holes and recompile back to the default scenery files.

Its not the deep hole that bothers me, it's the erroneous mountain range surrounding the lake.

thanks, tippy

I think that these mistakes are one of the great things about FS. I mean as far as flight charactoristics, its very realistic, but where in the real world can you fly around in a 30,000' deep hole? The mistakes, and add-on aircraft are definately the greatest things about FS.

Good point Matt.

Not sure if plant is on the wrong side of the river or the river is on the wrong side of the plant. But  the Susquehanna River just starts and stops in several places just in my local area alone and it is a huge river, about a mile across.

So, maybe it's the river that is misplaced.

Is there a utility to fix this kind of stuff, or add an aerial photo of your neighborhood?

All in all MSFS is a great Simulator.  Nothing like it anywhere that i know of, that models the whole earth.

When storage gets bigger and cpu's & drives get faster, it will probably fully utilize STRM data.

If i were M$, i'd be looking at this thread as a reference point  for a ready-made list of things that might be fixed.

One thing that makes me really curious is how the water reflections in FS work.

As you fly over the water, with default water textures, the ocean that's right below you is dark. But after about 5 miles away from where you are, the water almost instantly becomes too light OR it doesn't blend well. I looked at the texture files that relate the water. They look ok [good transitions and blending], but the way how FS renders the textures is pretty weird.

It seems to pull and stretch the texture towards the location where the aircraft is flying over. This makes most of the ocean lighter while the little area of water below you is dark. Even with the wave animations, it's not enough to help the water blend effectively.

I guess this is what's causing the so-called bleeding reflections. I guess M$ was just trying to look for ways to improve the water textures. I guess M$ now knows what to do and what not to do next time.

The water you are seeing is the FS "detail effect". The square area of water that is dark is the area that is being created in detail-the area outside is further away and not in detail. While this isn't noticeable on the ground, it's easily seeable on the water. In FS it's been a problem since the dawn of time. THAT is something I'd love to see fixed.

You can probably do it with FSSC. If you can give me the hole's co-ordinates, I'll do it for you.

If there were no errors what would all the scenery and aircraft designers do?? If you find an error that bothers you, fix it
