What did I do now

Postby Marlin » Sun Mar 13, 2005 12:02 am

I have downloaded the Meljet 777 and got everything running, but there was no sound. So I changed the CFG file, ok. Now it sounded like a jet.

When I hit the hat switch to the left side, up down and the middle, all I get is the wall of the cockpit. The right side views are just fine. This is in the normal cockpit view.

Soooo, I thought that a new cockpit would solve the problem. I installed the cockpit by Jorge 'eko' Salas and the update. b777pam   Now the 777 sounds like it has props instead of jets.

What do I do to solve this problem?

Also the hat switch looking left still is wall and as was one of the orginal problems there is no VC. But while in the VC view mode, the right side of the screen works fine but the left side is wall again. Split right down the middle of the screen.   Now if I pan all the way left I can see down one of the isles back into my empty plane.

Do I need to install that program called virtual cabin to take care of the missing virtual cockpit  or what?

Hmmm, I have exactly the same problem. I assume you have the 04 version like me as I don't think this occurs in the 02 version.
I tried everything I culd with the aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg but couldnt sort it, Ive given up flying it now which is a shame.
Did you try contacting Meljet themselves? I didnt but may e worth a try now as it would seem there is obviously a bug with it.

Don't know the aeroplane or that panel, guys - but it occurs to me that this might help:-

IMO, Mitch does the best panels going.

Thanks Nav, I'll have to check that one out.

I'm really hoping that he figured out the bug or whatever is going on.

Reap, did you have the same problem with the sound? Ya know sounding like a king air.

Meljets do not have a virtual cockpit. Rather it has a virtual cabin. If you have Active Camera, you can wander back into the cabins and grab a seat.

The "wall" you see on the left hand side of the cockpit is simply part of the cabin VC. To eliminate this, go into the aircraft.cfg file, drop down to [viewpoint] and increase value of the first character in the "eyepoint" line slightly. This value determines how far forward you are when looking around. The value is in feet, so increase is it say by 5 and check the results. Adjust it until you are happy.

Also, there is no way to install a VC cockpit into a plane without one. It has to be modelled by the designer.

Hope this helps.

Racartron,

Thanks for that bit of information, I'll give it a shot. What else is there to do?

I'm not really worried about screwing up that plane,  cause if it doesn't work I'll just throw it in the trash can and look for another one that works to my satifaction.

I'm really easy to please. I just want to have it work.

When I find a cool plane, there should be an easy to follow installation readme. There should be a complete package of everything.

Like all of the gauges that are needed for that plane, a VC that works.

Not a bunch of you need this program, then that program, then reinstall everything after it is running fine or else your jet will sound like an ultralight.

The more I fly the Premiumaircraft CJR's the more I appreciate them. The only other one that I have found that equals the quality is the 737 experiance. So my hat is off to whomever made those packages.
