;D Ok guys a tail wind can not make a airspeed read 0 :D Who told you that one :(you have to show me more info on that. :( I have over 8,300 real flight hours and you say a tail wind will make the airspeed read 0. ;D I can't find this info  anywhere. :D

Hi there,

I had a similar problem with the 757, too.
It seems that it is underpowered by default
I was told there are updated flightdynamics available, here.
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=43713

this should solve the problem of the lack of power.
You could also increase the "thrust scalar" value in your
aircraft.cfg.

Due to I
NFo/Simviation Multiplayer Server.

it wasnt a tail wind or anything weather related. It was an engine fault. and seems as its a one off I think we can safely put it down to a software glitch

The worst that Happened to me was being on autopilot then the pitot jamed giving an indication of low speed. I jumped on the autopilot turning it off because autopilot was confuse. I took control of the plane turn on the pitot heat. kept my flight on an estimated speed assuming i was going to over speed. level a little reduse trust to crusing speed. then the airspeed indicator got back to normal flip back autopilot. and voila. but this was at 10000. nothing like that above 18000.

The other thing i got was a strong front wind. the airplane was on over speed. i jump on the autopilot again. remove trust, slow it down to normal speed. then the wind flipped 180 degres, i was now going to slow for flight. pushed on the stick trust at max. then wind changed again. GRRRRRRR. about 3 time. when i was approching the rocky's in BC going west

That was crazy.

Nope, noone said this.  It was a misunderstanding between Saratoga and myself.  I said that winds, transitioning quickly from a strong headwind to a strong tailwind, can cause your IAS to drop significantly-which is true (whether or not it's true in RL, it is in FS).  I was refering to it dropping to 180, Saratoga thought it meant dropping to zero.  The solution to this would be to turn of A/T and hand climb her, because the AP has tricked itself into thinking that the plane is going very, very slow.

Cleared up?

Well, I can't really comment on the POSKY 757 except to say I'd noticed many freeware planes' engines are out of whack with a lot of them shooting off the runway like a rocket. I usually have realism settings set to max but I don't recall having a sudden drop in speed  on FS default planes unless I stalled or accidently set the spoilers on:)

Using PMDG and ActiveSky(with FSUIPC), I had a problem with winds aloft simulated where sudden wind changes increasing tailwind component would propel the plane into overspeed too much. Now set to winds aloft dl'd at each weather station, seems to be ok now, not as drastic a change in speed.

Krylite, I don't know if you have this activated or not, but FSUIPC allows you to "smoothen" the sudden change of wind directions. I have set it to 1 degree change/second just so the aircraft won't fly in the barber pole and overstress..which is  truly sad when you are 7hrs into your flight  ;D
