Dave . I believe the secret is to give it time....go back at least a planes length before you turn and WAIT FOR IT...try that..commoner ;)

Just tried the 172...Do this..Hold down shift and press P to get it rolling straight back. If you Hold Down shift and press P then let go and immediatly press 1 or 2 it will turn after a planes length...it's tricky and needs a lot of practice as you will find out but is quite fun when you get the hang of it... ;)

as commoner says but just to add, dont press any buttons between shift p and the 1 or 2 and it takes about a plane length before the turn starts

. . . ah, in a perfect world! not all FS9 planes nor computers running FS9 are created equal.  some users have reported if they change views during pushback it will not work and others (myself included) have addon planes that do not adhere to the FS9 pushback convention. so what to do about it becomes the real question . . .

p.s. my fanda will pushback straight but will not turn

perhaps microsoft should take note of how many people have problems with this and perhaps let the aircraft turn during push back using F11 & F12 (Differential Brakes) in FS2006 or whatever the next one will be

Just thought I'd throw this in because it annoys me, you don't need to hit F11 and F12 to get differential brakes-differential brakes are used any time you tap the brakes when turning.  Voila, differential braking.

...mmm...I totally agree there jb...it is far too "fiddly" for what should be just a simple task.....but that said once you work it out it's just fine...commoner ;)

There are a few freeware pushback gauges out that will make this alot easier and with alittle practice you can pushback allmost to the exact spot you wanted to be at.Follow the install instuctions to the letter and you should have no problems

Search for Rob Barendregt's pushback gauge suite at Avsim - it's very good.

How long have you waited for your fanda dash to turn??  I have it also. It seems to be a processor hog typically.  I mean it cuts my frames by about 5 or more over what I get with other aircraft.  My specs are on the bottom of the post.  I don't have the best PC around but certainly enough horsepower to handily run almost any app.  Yet the fanda dash-8 taxes it a little.  Mine will trun in pushback but it takes a while and I don't switch views or use the hat either.  Also, I don't fire up the engines till after pushback.  I set up my flight plan, do checks and tune radios on ground power, get my ifr plan logged and taxi permission then I signal pushback. Get her aimed right, dis-connect pushback and fire the engines.
