Which zoom rate do you think is realistic?

Postby Reap » Tue Mar 08, 2005 5:09 pm

Was wondering what you all thought was the most realistic zoom level for flying, I always find the default a little too small a field of view and wonder what others use?

I do most of my flying from the VC at either 0.31 or 0.5

I usually use 0.71 or 0.5, 1.0 sometimes on an instrument approach.

I don't understand anyone that flies from .31, please explain it to me.  It's a fisheye view!  It looks terrible!

.62-.65 has always done it for me just fine.

I guess I'm old fashioned. I just fly with whatever it gives me.

VC between .4 and .7 depending on the aircraft are the most real to me.

I use from .75-.85 depending on the aircraft. That seems to give the best view without causing the 'fisheye' effect.

I think 1.0 is the most effective, but 1.0 at VC is the best (for me anyway).

I normally actually cycle between the default view, and back a couple views and back to default view again.  I find doing that most realistic, as in real life my eyes usually focus on what I see... which is kind of like a zoom in and out effect.  And yeah, the 1.0 view seems a little bit zoomed in for the most part  :)
