why does my throttle do this?

Most of the time when im at the gates and starting my aircraft, ill do a pushback , taxi to the runway and get myself lined up and begin to throttle up, only to find out that i only have one engine throttling up while the other remains idle. i have to quickly engage the out throttle for the other engine to throttle up and during the whole flight i have to rely on my auto pilot to adjust speed. i cant do it manualy with the F1 -> F4 keys if i do ill just see the number one engine move. whats  going on here? anyone have any clues? its really bumbing me out.

Is this in one particular aircraft or saved flight?
You may have a bug!
When it happens again try changing aircraft and then changing back again.
If you are flying from a saved flight then save it again with the throttles okay.

If thats not the problem:
To re-engage both throttles press E, 1 and 2 together.
Then resave the flight.
To use one throttle or the other press E1 or E2

yes, i have the same problem, mostly when i restart engines after shutting them down.

to engage all 2-4 engines

press AND HOLD 'E'

press 1,2,3,4 ( 3,4 if they call for it)

check your throtle. if it didn't try again. if still not, i'm not sure.

No reason to hold E, it'll work just as well if you just hit it.

I was experiencing an FS9 problem with all planes pulling to one side. just for the heluvit, i took the joystick (same make/model) off my fs2k2 machine and hooked 'er up here . . . you guessed it . . . joystick was toast. everything's fine now.

No reason to hold E, it'll work just as well if you just hit it.

Unless the problem is a "bad" gauge, as I have seen in
the past. Some panels that I have installed had gauges
that were interfereing with multiple key-stroke commands.

They would be sending continuos "KEY_" events every
simulation cycle. This causes a multi-KEY event like
E+1+2 to be broken up and the 1 and 2 are unrecognized
by the software.

The problem would only come to light once one tried
to take control of individual engines or inadvertantly
entered  "E".

It's due to the engine focus built in to FS. You are somehow getting the focus switched to only one engine and having trouble getting it back to both. Here's the easiest way I've found to fix this. If you have a joystick that's programmable you can set one button to send the key combination "E+1+2" or "E+1+2+3+4" depending on how many engines you have (on my X-45 I use the "Fire C" button. This way when you need to, all it takes is one button and you are back working both/all engines. It also seems to work more surely when the joystick sends it instead of just hitting the combination on the keyboard. I think you have to hit the 1+2 keys within a certain time frame and it's easy to miss time it.

If you turn on the throttle quadrant and watch it you'll find that (on a prop-plane) FS first of all pushes the mixture and pitch levers to 'full/fine', then fires up number one (port side) and then takes the other engines in turn.

This happens to me too sometimes.  I do the e+1+2 etc., the ctrl-e...it doesn't matter what I do, it always fixes itself by restarting FS9, but when i'm in the middle of a flight, thats the last thing i want to do

No reason to restart the game, just reload the aircraft from the "select aircraft screen".

The easiest thing to do is to break out the throttle quadrant thingo that is activated by the switch on the cockpit.
Put the pointer in the middle and push up....voila....

Open the throttle quadrant and throttle using the joystick to see if it does only one or two etc...
