Ok, the sim's got me stumped.

Postby Saratoga » Sun Mar 06, 2005 12:44 pm

Well blah. When I first got 2k4, my graphics card was struggling to keep me airborne. So I turned down, amongst other things, the aircraft texture detail. Now I have bought a much better graphics card, but I can't seem to find the slider to turn the aircraft texture detail or size or something back up. It is VERY noticable and I really want to fix it. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

That would be...(Alt)/Options/Settings/Display>Aircraft tab in flight or Settings/Display>Aircraft tab from opening screen.

Cheers,
Dave

I tried that, that's what I thought too. When I open that, the only slider I get is for VC Gauge Detail, in addition to selection boxes for reflections, shadows, and landing lights. Eh?

The options should be selectable from FS9/Settings/Display/Aircraft.

There's no sliders for the aircraft except for maybe the Realism settings. AFAIK

As Dave has suggested...have you examined all of the tabs in that section...?

sorry, a bit off topic but has anyone ever managed to keep the aircraft quality setting on "ultra high"? it always jumps back to "high" on my sim when i exit the settings menu. i know it does that on other people's sim too so i was just curious if someone has got it staying on "ultra high" and if that's so, HOW?? ;D

Ya cranked that up to Ultra High, it kicked it back down to High. I think my MIP mapping is on 6 if I remember correctly. That sound right? I went to every selection in the settings menu and every tab in every selection. Still stumped. Thanks for the help though.

Turning on Ultra High, by the way, had no effect, it just turned on all three check boxes at the bottom.

I dunno if it'd make a difference, but what about "Global Max Texture" size?
Before my card/drivers started playing-up, I had all the hardware sliders MAXED with display settings of 1024 x 768 in 32bit mode.
Pretty low FPS (my graphics card sucks), but textures were all V.Sharp and crisp.

Cheers, good luck with finding the right setup,

Carl

Well I fixed it, and sure enough get on here to say I did, and there is the answer. Thank you though Gnat. All I had to do was turn Global Max Texture Size to Massive and tada!, my plane looks spiffy once again. Thank you all!
