repaints ?

Postby sonic » Tue Mar 01, 2005 2:28 pm

Ok just wondering when you download a repaint for a model you aready have Do you put it in the aircraft folder the same way you did the model or put it in the model's folder For example If I have a kingair model would I put a repaint in the kingair folder textures etc..
or just put the repiaint in the aircraft folder.

Most repaint files are textures only You put the files in the texture folder of the aircraft then make a change in the aircraft cfg file to add the livery. Check out the default B737-400 or the B747-400 air craft to see how they did it. But it is realtively easy to do.

Umm, don't you mean you put the new "texture" folder in the aircraft folder. If you just put the texture files in the default texture folder you'll overwrite all your default textures.

Most reapints come with the texture files (.bmps)  in a folder such as (my latest, a BAC 1-11  ;)) texture.LonEuro

All you need to do is copy the new texture folder(s) from the extracted download, into the main folder of the aircraft, that is the one that contains model, sound, texture, panel folders. You do not copy the textures into any of these folders.

Then add the .cfg additions. These are often found in the README of the downloaded repaint. (any FS cfg file can be opened in notepad) make sure you follow any instructions, eg the first line of each entry has a sequential number that MUST be correct.

You can actually alias the model file!

[FLTSIM]
alias=XXXXXXXXXXXXX\model

(Replace the XXXXXXXXXXXXX with the main folder of the aircraft of choice, and save it as model.cfg.
