MDMAX MD80 download

Postby swwmd80 » Mon Feb 14, 2005 4:32 pm

Hi everyone!  New to these forums so big hello to you all...I just wondered if anyone has purchased the MDMAX MD80 download from here and if they had any troubles with it?  After about 3 hours of trying to download it correctly and after doing exactly what they (MDMAX people) told me to do, I finally managed to get the thing on my FS9.  I then went to register it which I thought worked ok.  I then went to load it in FS9 and it automatically launched AOL!!!  Now everytime I start up FS9, it starts but then just as quick, it launches AOL again automatically.

Anyone else experiencing problems with this?

That's strange. . could be one of two things as I see it:
you've got a strange alias in your FS folder that causes it to run AOL when it gets to a certain line of code, or your FS shortcut has a modified target or property that causes a double launch.

Sounds like your registration may have caused the issue.  Sorry I don't have any terribly constructive advice, however, I'd recomend there aren't any AOL links in the shortcut properties and turning off the AOL taskbar before launching FS.

Solution:

Switch to a better, cheaper ISP. There are plenty of ISPs out there that are 100s of time better and half of the price or less.
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
GeForce FX5200 256Mb
1GB DDR400 DC
Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

Actually, AOL is probably the best mail service out there.  I don't recommend using them as a primary ISP, however, if you have the patience to use their software, it really is the best service out there.

I beg to differ, Gmail has the best in spam filtering 1Gb of storage and all kinds of other stuff that would make it higly desirable. All that and it's free (right now at least, it's beta). AOL blocks E-mails blindly very often because of many reasons, including the fact that they contain a URL in them that is "suspicious" or "blacklisted", i.e. the time I sent a friend who had AOL a message about www.albinoblacksheep.com and it bounced, saying "AOL no longer accepts E-mails containing this link" or some crap like that. If you're still stuck on AOL, as far as the internet goes, "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

icky icky icky!!!!

never AOL, i had it many a year ago (AOL 2.0-4.0), and we never liked it. then we switched to another 56k, which actually ran faster than aol.

currently we have Comcast Cable (heaven) and we're only paying $45. I recommend this or DSL, also known to be good.

if too expensive, Netzero & Netscape are good alternative choices i hear from friends.

PS note, I also like using the school internet (except that they're macs) because we have T1 internet, and the state pays for it!

I have Verizon DSL I believe, I can top about 200 kbps on most downloads from good sights (Simviation comes to mind).

Though I would agree I am all for using T1, my son says the schools computers are great, and going up there and doing work for them and using them, whew, 500kbps easily. Insane, I want it.

I use AOL, but I've got the latest version with a fast computer and cable connection through comcast.

I don't recomend it for anyone with a slow computer or slow internet.  Like I said...if you have the patience, it's pretty good.

Comcast rules!  500 kbps!

AOL is TERRIBLE....it's terrible in the ISP department, it's terrible in the browsing department, and it's terrible in the mail client department.  Notice a pattern?
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Hmm...fascinating how we move from MDMAX MD80 to arguing over ISPs.

Despite how slow it may be...AOL has probably been the most successful in popularity...almost every teenager in America uses their instant messaging program.

AOL supports gun control. That equals, well at least in my mind, that they are anti American, anti constitution worthless bunch of people.

The only thing good about AOL is that they send free targets, about 3.5 inches round. Can you say "Pullll".

Thanks for the comments - however I dont think my question had anything whatsoever to do with how good or bad AOL was!!!

Completely put me off ever asking a question on here again!

...Sad to hear that swwm.....there is always a tendency to go "off topic" and in many cases it is fun... I feel sure you would benefit greatly in the long run from being a part of the BEST flight sim outfit  on the web..think again young man ..commoner. ;)
