My FS9 no longer works at all...???

Hi Simmers... I have a major problem with my FS9..!!..!!
It has stopped working completely... When I try to run the FS9 program it hangs on the FS9 splashscreen. Ctrl+Alt+Delete and it shows FS9 is "Not Responding" and when the task is ended I get an error report... I have tried everything I know of to get the program to run but to no avail... No viruses have been detected either and all software on my PC works except for FS9...     It stopped working on the same day I had got FS9 perfectly refined to the way a wanted it... The last thing I remember doing was adding wake effects to a PMDG 737-600/700 configuration file... Before that I had installed FS Roads and an F-117A (both payware installations)...
       Has anyone experienced the same problem and how can I fix it before I resort to drastic measures...?
       Please Help this downed pilot.....

Try deleting the FS9.cfg see if that works.

Can you start FS9 safe mode?

Alrighty...... I have never tinkered with or had to look for the FS9.CONF file before...!!! Where is it located Dude..?

C:\Documents and Settings\*USERNAME*\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

Delete the fs9.CFG file or do as MS say rename it to fs9.BAK. Most people just delete it though because when you start FS9 again it will rebuild it.

Good job fellas..... Keep the help comin'..... I have had two weeks of trial 'n' errors trying to get FS9 working again... I'm starting to experience the cold turkey effect.... Just one other thing I reckon might be worth a mention here > On re-installation of FS9 I have to RUN FS9 to complete installation right...? The program will still hang on the splashscreen after finishing building the scenery files etc....... Has it been installed properly even though the same problem occurs....????

Sorry you are still in trouble...just one thing ...did you have the M$ 9.1 update?......if so you MUST uninstall that first before trying to uninstall FS9 or you won't get a clean uninstall...........commoner

Hi there Commoner...   I definately do have the M$ update patch downloaded and safely stored in a folder on my PC but to be honest I cant remember whether or not I actually installed the thing... I have been trying to refine my FS9 for a Cooooool year now and have lost count of the amount of times I started FS9 completely from sctrach and re-introduced all my addational odd-on aircraft. I'll have to check that out when I get home from work...

I've found that a hanging splash screen often means a corrupted save game file. Try finding the "myflts" (I still have no idea where it is, someone can probably tell you) folder and deleting everything you have in there.

On my computer (Windows XP): "C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\My Documents"

For anyone else change "Matt" to whatever user name you use to log on to Windows XP.

Thanks Beefhole..... I have more than 30 saved flights in the my flights folder..... If deleting these allows my FS9 to works again I'll owe you a pint mate...!! !! !! !!

Just while we are on the subject of problems.... Would anyone have any idea as to why I would have 2 sets of contrails above 30000ft.... When my FS9 was working I had the standard contrails going straight out from behind the aircraft but I had another set of contrails arcing downwards towards to the ground....?? Any ideas guys...??
