..mmm....just had a look there at the FREE downloads and it says they have no panels and are unlikely to be fully compatible with FS9....any comments?.....commoner  ???

The A-10 specifically says "fs9" meaning that it will work in FS2004.  So, you shouldn't have any problems with that one.

I don't know, I've never really tried them (or any payware for that matter).  I would download the A-10 and try it and see (of course, it won't have a panel or sounds-but you could find some).

Thanks to Alpha sim for a nice plane which comes with three repaints

For now we're using Mike Marciano's F16 panel

I use this one for AI (so the panel is no issue  ;) ), and it is a dream; there are loads of repaints & AI packs out there, so all the hard work has been done.

Oh, and as a rule I find Alphasim products perfectly acceptable, whether payware or freeware - their recent Seaking (after a few hiccoughs) has filled a vital gap on my PC.

Alphasim makes a "middle-of-the-road" brand of FS birds. They are very nice for the price and offer models not commonly available at that level of design. Plus they provide temendous support.

For instance, give their brand new V-22 Osprey a try and you will be amazed at the quality -- in particular, the FDE. This gal is a hoot to fly. ;D

Also, when they feel one of their designs has become outdated, they offer them for free -- sans panel -- A pretty nice gesture if I do say so.

Panels and sound sets are quite numerous on the various Simming sites, so there is never a problem matching up the bits.
