Joystick Problem

Postby BadPvtDan » Fri Jan 21, 2005 2:07 pm

Hi, this is my first post here and I have a problem:)

Some of my add-on aircraft are moving to the right on the runways...the whole darn plane just wants to make a big old circle.

I do not have this problem with the preinstalled planes and most of the add-on planes behave properly.

Also, on some of these add-on planes...out of the cockpit viewer the outside is displayed in a very small box in the upper left hand corner! All the other viewers work fine but that one is screwy.

I have a p4 2.0 ghz machine under XP with 1 gig of ramn and a nvidia 256mb vid card. Im using a saitek st290 stick. My drivers and direct x are all up to date.

Thanks for any help!

What are you'r reality settings on? It maybe that its just prop torque causing the turn. If so then just lower the appropriate setting.

This is happening with jet  aircraft  only. I went ahead and bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but I do not think it was a stick problem. After I had uninstalled the old stick the planes were still turning big time.

might sound a bit silly but are all engines producing similar thrust?? ::)

Just a thought here....Have you checked the joystick calibration???

As far as thrust goes...these are single engine aircraft so thrust shouldn't be an issue...get this, though, now my a/c are turning to the left! Hehe I am having to apply alot of rudder to keep on the runway but thankfully I have been able to do that. Previously, I would just go in circles.

I even checked the wind to see if maybe I was being blown off the runway but that wasn't it.

I have calibrated several times. I think maybe it's my poor karma. All those bad things done in college catching up with me.

this aslo happened to me on a few downloaded planes. Some I had to get rid of. If you lower the realism settings for your rudder and "read" the portion on this in the help section of Fs9, it will explain and make sense of what you need to do. Now all I deal with is the natural tourque of the aircraft.

If you're veering to the right, it's probably not  torque, as most singles tend to go left during takeoff (the prop and crankshaft are going clockwise as seen from the cockpit, so the rest of the plane tries to roll and yaw the other way).

This is usually natural tourque. As an increase in power will vere left as the slipstream travels clockwise back around the aircraft pushing on the verticle stabalizer. This is why most aircraft these days have an offset verticle stab so as to decrease the effects of this effect. Just as a decrease will vere right. A real plane veres both ways depending on your power setting.

So hopefully you will get the right amount when you flythe sim. I have noticed though that on the sim and in my 172 the "tourque effect" is no where as extream as in the simulator. There is the effect, just not as drastic as the PC makes it out to be.

Cheers
Brent
